I've read many novels and biographies on the life and relationships of Henry VIII and if I wanted a historically accurate potrayal of the life of the late king I'm sure I could find hundreds at my disposal but let's be honest they can be deadly dull!!
This series does not claim to be an accurate account of the life of Henry VIII, it advertises itself clearly as a drama and a very steamy one at that. Also if you think about it for a woman to yield so much sexual power over a king that he would break from the Catholic Church, putting his monarchy and country at thread just in order to bed her she had to be pretty alluring and well worth the wait - so justifiably for me the sexual content in the show makes sense. I mean really do ... Read More:

This film has a lot of potential, but fell flat on its face. The cinematography was lovely, but the majority of the characters were shallow and superficial. The character of Vera should have been complex, and it needed a much more experienced and more talented actress to give her justice. Keira Knightley doesn't act, she just says her lines with a silly smirk on her face, giving the audience no insight whatsoever into what she's thinking and feeling, and just left me feeling lost and confused and feeling no sympathy towards her character at all. Dylan Thomas was portrayed to be a horrible and self-centred man and I couldn't understand why both Vera and Caitlin were all over him, while William Killick, the only decent and believable character in the whole ... Blackadder has always been one of the funniest and best written British Sitcoms around and this forth and last series is one of the best from the shows run. The six episodes of the series all show-off the great script and the brilliant performances by both the main cast and the guest stars. All the cast seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves throughout the series but alongside Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson, my favourite has to be Stephen Fry for his brilliant portrayal of General Melchett.
Each episode never ceases to be funny and the last episode of the series is still surprisingly touching despite the number of times that I have watched it. The one slight problem with the series is the laughter track that can be somewhat intrusive ... Read More:

I would give this no stars at all. There was NOTHING beautiful about "life" for the Jews who went through the Holocaust. This is the most cynical, insensitive, arse-covering, insulting interpretation of the Holocaust ever to be produced. I hate it! And I hate that foolish Roberto Benigni for producing it.

Once again sony pictures have released another mess. they have mislabelled the set, rambo 3 is NOT 5.1, it is in fact the same disc that appeared in a previous set that i also own. first set i bought had a faulty rambo 2 disc so i took it back and now i find that the 3rd film is NOT what it is claimed to be. Be totally aware of what you are buying.

Hey, how can anyone NOT find this funny? I grew up with this on my television, it made up part of my weekend. I loved the antics, and it may have given me my obsession now. Of course that is light hearted but we must remember that this was a real event in history and Nazi's weren't comical like this programme makes them out to be ... which makes it a remarkably brave premise... David Croft and the other guy took a risk by making fun of a time that then MANY people still had clear memories of!
Bravo!
Pity that they can't make any more!
BTW, does anyone know what happened to the actress that played Maria... Francesca Gonshaw?

British stiff upper lip stuff, some fine British actors.I saw this as an impressionable young boy and was stunned by it's visual aspect/impact.
Unfortunately, having watched it again, now at a fairly mature age, I honestly found it rather dull.
I actually thought the camels were better actors than the cast!
Perhaps because the actors who played the main characters were new to cinema and more used to stage work, I don't know, but, frankly, it just did not work for me this time around.
I suspect that's not going to be popular so start throwing the rotten tomato's now!!!!
