This could well be one of the best movies ever made. It is hillarious, yet warm, and carries a vital message.
Those who have given the film a bad rating for the fact it contains little dialogue in the beginning, no doubt do not have the mental capacity to understand the true beauty of this amazing film.

What makes CS Lewis's Narnia "septet" so timeless is that the books work on 2 levels - straightforward 'fantasy' for children and a 'deeper' symbolic allegory of Christian faith.
This turned out fortunately for film-makers like Disney wanting to jump on the Tolkien/Rowling fantasy bandwagon. Children in the 1940s and 1950s didn't need more explicit biblical references putting in the books because British Christians then grew up like Muslims today - their faith was not an optional add on but an integral, 'living' aspect of their existence. They were familiar with what Lewis's allegories were without needing them spelled out. Today, in Britain's almost totally secular society, the fact that Lewis didn't lay the Christian theme on with a trowel means ... Read More:

This film is great. It is a really good idea to start of as a cartoon then use real people in the real world.
I have watched it over and over and still love it and laugh and sing along.

I'm afraid I have to agree with the earlier reviewer who said there is a fault with the DVD.
I have a 4:3 television and set my DVD player to letterbox. The film does not play in the correct aspect ratio, losing some of the picture at either side. Considering that one of the selling points of the 50th anniversary edition is that you get the entire original picture this is really disappointing. In addition, the picture appears to be somewhat squashed together so that the characters in the film appear far thinner then they should.
Initially I thought it was my DVD player causing the problems but I have no trouble with any of my other disks. After doing some research online at several other DVD review sites it appears that this is a problem ... Read More:

In one of Walt Disney's classics, Bagheera the panther offers to take Mowgli, a young boy, to the man village before the evil tiger Shere Khan gets to him.
This family adventure is a classic, made so by a beautiful sentimental plot about human emotions, including loyalty, sensitivity and most importantly love. And these human emotions are decoded through the animals of the jungle.
With the enchanting and fun loving actions of Baloo the bear and the honest and hard actions of Bagheera, do audiences get that true feel of the human spirit, and the facts of life, to have fun, but to face the truth as well, which is also reflected in some of the most catchy and enjoyable songs ever created for a Disney picture.
the script is APPALLING - we are spoonfed, almost literally, every action or plot-turn. subtlety is out-the-window. also, the script has been totally stripped of everything that makes it relevant or even interesting. for example, the religious allusions are non-existent. what is leftover is bland, neutral, insipid, meaningless and ultimately boring. the action scenes were action-filled but over too quickly and ultimately who cares!
what is okay about this film:
the acting is about as good as it CAN be with a script this inept. the music score, while being play-by-numbers, is effective enough, although i can't recall a single motif worth remembering once the film has finished.
This film follows the character of Mary Poppins the nanny who's practically perfect in every way. This timeless classic has magical and unforgettable songs for the whole family to enjoy. And this special 40th anniversary edition has some brilliant extras from a new short story with Julie Andrews, cut songs and a documentary of the making of the film.
I would give this book a five star rating because narnia is absolutely brilliant.whenever I read it I cat put it down that is how good C.S Lewis is.Also ,the drawing's init are excellent.woul recamend this book to people who like adventure stoies.Thebook is fiction and I also love it because it is in a fantacy would but it seams real at the same time.
