The 'revamp' of Dr Who has been the biggest tv disappointment of the last few years. A once brilliant national institution that had clever, imaginative stories, genuine scares, atmosphere and charismatic lead actors has degenerated into a flashy, pop-culture spouting, juvenile embarrassment with none of the charm, wit or magic of the classic series. This fourth series is the worst of the lot, the stories range from confusing, to lame to just plain awful and the whole series is hampered by the atrocious Catherine Tate playing the most irritaitng companion ever. As a die-hard X-Phile, I was excited to hear that a brand new movie had been released. I was expecting the story to pick up somewhat where the show had left off; to see Mulder and Scully trying to stop the impending world colonisation from aliens, the set date of which they had learned in the final series of the show. I had also hoped to see involvement from A.D Skinner and the highly likeable show characters Monica Reyes and John Doggett.
I was very disappointed to find that apparantly the deadly invasion of earth was of no further interest to Mulder and Scully (it's not mentioned once, in fact) and that their friends Reyes and Doggett are no longer involved in their lives. The first impression I got upon opening the newly delivered Amazon parcel was "It's big!" Not just big, but A4 big. I guess the fact that it was described as a `photo album style box' should have tipped me off, but you just don't realise quite how big this box set is until you see it up close.
Brushing aside the fact that I would now have to work out how this big box of Dwarf would fit on my DVD shelf, I opened the box to reveal some rather interesting packaging. Inside the box is a package which looks like a proper photo album, pictures taken by all the Red Dwarf crew with comments under each one. After watching the second X files film (which was a bit disappointing) I felt very nostalgic for the series which had spawned it. Only £65 or so on amazon, so that's about 30p per episode, plus you get the first feature film. Most people must know what the show is about, right? An x file is a case which has been deemed to be unsolvable by the FBI, usually because it has some sort of paranormal explanation which no normal agent will think about. Agent Fox Mulder set about investigating the X Files and became an expert in the paranormal, after coming to believe he witnessed his little sister being abducted by aliens. After finally convincing my brother to watch an episode of Family Guy, infuriatingly it turned out to be this one. It's really not up to the standard I've come to expect of the series' writers, it was pretty lame, really, obviously written by Star Wars fans for Star Wars fans. Now he refuses to watch it at all and thinks I'm daft for liking it. Crud.

Oh dear, A very tired film,with none of the atmosphere of the last film nor of the fantastic t.v series. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson seemed tired and indifferent to the characters they were playing that made them so famous! The storyline was ok, but, little imagination was used and it could, and, should of been a lot better. for the first hour its about scully not wanting to join up with mulder and the rest is simply forgetful.Having been an avid fan for many years I find myself hoping that this will be 'The End'.The X Files: I Want To Believe (1 Disc Edition with Exclusive Free X Files Poster)

With this series we are fresh off the regeneration from the previous Doctor played by Christopher Eccleston and now David Tennant has a lot to live up to; he does it and he does it with style. series 1 started off everything(makes sense)but seriously if it weren't for the success of this series then the show wouldn't have survived...thanks to the amazing writers and crew behind it and some fab actors.
eppy guide- Rose-4/5-the start...and what a great start it is too...Billie Piper CAN act as the great Rose Tyler and the Autons are very creepy. The end of the world-4/5-very good all round episode tht boasts some amazing visuals. the unquiet dead-4/5-very scary episode with some terrifying zombies...and the doctor meets Charles Dickens. Aliens of London-2/5-a decent episode but not fantastical...contains the infamous big ben crash scene...but not much else.
