A lot stupid, a little boring, mostly bizare... ok, sometimes you buy a film that is bad - however, I am more disappointed in wasting the time watching it. I kept thinking there must be something interesting or it would have to get better....NOT.

I first saw this film in the cinema, and am so glad it is now out on DVD. As a big fan of war films, Female Agents is easily the best of this year, with cracking performances from all the main leads, especially Sophie Marceau.
Set in 1944 during World War II, the film tells the story of four women resistance fighter given the mission to rescue a British geologist. Based on a true story, the action rarely lets up with a fantastic script complemented by gorgeous cinematography. Watch out for the subway scene - it's a classic!

I first saw this film 30 years ago and was bowled over by the scenery and the actors. Recently I decided to watch it with a more critical eye and found to my surprise that I was even more captivated by the vastness of the landscape which throughout the film forms the backdrop for the tragic love story that unfolds.
At first I thought that Sharif's Zhivago was too "soft" but as the film unfolded I realised that he was "the poet". Christie was as always perfect as Lara and we shouldn't forget Chaplin as the dutiful and loving wife. She plays the role with just the right amount of pathos. However it is Steiger and Courtney who carry the film.
The sight of Courtney standing at the front of a military train rushing past civilians that he neither ... Read More:

Good God! Russell Crow is one of my favorate actors, and I think this is his best film to date. With a superb supporting cast with the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Oliver Reed, and Richard Harris. This is a tail of one mans quest to find the man who wronged him. Betrayed by his own emperor, the general turned slave turned gladiator must take on an empire to bring justice to his life.

I used to think that I liked SciFi and action movies. Then I eventually realised, after watching hours of tosh, that in fact I don't like most SciFi and action movies at all. I turns out that I only like good SciFi and action movies.
Rest assured this is a good movie. It may not be in the league of the Bourne identity but it is way above the usual rubbish. And what makes this particularly good as a DVD are the extras which give an interesting insight into the world of snipers and Mark Wahlburg himself.

This is the brilliant film about being the best pilots, silly nicknames, and cheesy one liners! ( I feel the need, the need, for speed!) Brillant 'dog fighting' action scenes, and a great soundtrack, Not to be missed!

Indiana Jones - Raiders Of The Lost Ark - Special Edition [1981]
Steven Spielberg at HIS BEST. Another movie from my Dad's Collection. The action never stops and there's a carefully calculated high-point every 15 minutes at least. The effects are well co-ordinated, and the film is easily Spielberg's most genuinely riveting. The film is produced by George Lucas. Harrison Ford, discovered by Lucas, for STAR WARS, plays the title character, who is BOGART, FLASH GORDON and HAN SOLO rolled into one.

Sergio Leone is unique in his field, and particularly in the western genre. He was in his fourth year of spaghetti western, let's say in full swing, in this film. You know it is Sergio Leone by several elements that do not tell a lie. The music always has the same texture, the same taste, the same sonorities, with the eternal harmonica. Then the landscape, the sunshine, the light, the vegetation and of course practically no fauna, and in this one, not even a snake. Hardly a few horses, a couple of partridges, or whatever, and a pair of chickens. Nothing to brag about. Sergio Leone is concentrating anyway on the human animal and there the menagerie is by far diverse and grotesque enough. Then the economy of the dialogue is also typical because Sergio Leone never uses one word too many when he ... Read More:
