Kill Bill was the first Tarantino movie that was release in my time - I'm happy I got to see it when it came out as well - this film is no second rate copycat film in homage to kung fu cinema - it adds so much more.
The Bride (Uma Thurman) is seeking revenge on Bill and his assassination squad for trying to kill `The Bride' on her wedding day, and placing her into a coma for four years. What makes this film so great (to me Volume 1 + 2 is one film split in half) is that for the first 90 mins we get 100% adrenaline, action that is pure grin inducing. The Crazy 88 scenes (even better on the Japanese uncut DVD release) are out of this world - its ultra violence at its height and also cinematic art that you don't get to see very often. This film looks very good, the set, cinematography and initially the atmosphere, but the more i watched it the more i was left bemused as to why a posh english couple were fighting for the Soviet Union, allot of the accents are bad in this film but at least they're making some effort.
The film starts to get quite interesting when the German sniper comes on the scene but then the love story starts to develop and thats the point when you want to switch it off. This film is mildly entertaining ( if you can cope with the dodgy accents ), but i think Jude Law is a terrible actor and if you, like me can't stand the guy then stay well away. >>More Details |

Fantastic martial arts movie with characters you can care about. Some stunning choreography and set pieces (particularly the fight on the side of the building). Highly recommended for martial arts fans. Re: the reviewer below - ignore his 1 star review, it's an insult to the film!

Even the 3rd film, which is almost definitely the weakest of the four, is fantastic. The opening scene with the bomb in the skyscraper is a classic, and shows Gibson and Glover working as a pair like no one else ever really has. Each film is a near-perfect mix of humour and action, although number one is distinctly less comical and a lot darker. They're the kind of films that never get tedious no matter how many times you've seen them. And unlike Die Hard, the final 'let's rehash an old franchise to make some more money' entry doesn't suck! One of the best film series of all time.

This review refers to the BLU-RAY edition ONLY and NOT to the DVD edition.
Well having The Terminitor series on DVD and loving them and having recently upgraded to a blu-ray player I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my collection to high definition blu-ray format. Boy, what a mistake that was. Picture quality is AWFUL - well awful for blu-ray anyway. They've taken the same standard definition source as the DVD and upscaled it for blu-ray - but it's still standard edition. Only the menu is in High Definition, the movie is not. I tested my DVD version upscaled against the blu-ray edition and found them identical - if anything the DVD came out slightly on top. fight club is one of my favourite movies and i think this film is one of the best of all time.with its cast and crew this film is extremely powerful.and fight club shines with good acting of brad pitt and edward norton.this two disc dvd set also deserves 5 stars in all aspects.with the movie seven i think fight club is best film of brad pitt.

For a relatively low budget film; this film is excellent. I enjoyed the story and the lead actor (From ROME fame) was good.
However, the reason I do not give it 5 stars but only 4 stars is owing to inaccuracies in the film. Why would a band of mercenaries wear their old Regimental head-dresses when anyone who has served in the Forces knows that wearing them in the field is not very comfortable! A black wholly hat wins every time! There are many minor details that let this film down. A bigger budget, more attention to detail, this film would have become a cult classic! On a positive note, the "baddies"...very well done in terms of acting and custumes/visual effects. If you like Dog Soldiers I am suer you will enjoy this. Highly recommended! >>More Details |
