300 is a really well done and historically correct film - although the Persians might not like the fact that their entire army of thousands was slain by only 300 Spartans. It therefore was banned in Iran.
300 features impressive battle scenes and is visually brilliant. It also is quite violent but nowhere near its bad reputation. Battles are in the spotlight here, so don't be expecting too much of anything else.

Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko is out of place in this piece of crap film based on a computer game. Hollywood - obviously running out of ideas for new films now seems to try anything - from computer games to sequels to remakes. This DVD features the UNRATED version of the film, which is a bit more violent than the PG-13 version shown in movie theaters in the States. Nonetheless it DOESN'T make a crappy film any better. And sorry, Timothy Olyphant is NOT a convincing actor at all.

Swashbuckling pirates, cursed baddies, sea battles, sword fighting, danger and a good deal of rum - WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?!? Johnny Depp's FAB! With a great array of back-stage animators creating the 'cursed' affect, Pirates of the Caribbean is your perfect family film! Plus, it's absolutely hilarious!
Some say this is the best, but I'll leave that to you to decide. But there is one thing I DO know - and that is that after you've watched POTC 1, there's no stopping you until you've seen all three!!!

Being a huge fan of the books, I was sceptical about the films. Sharpe in the books is massive, scar on the face and black hair, with Harper even bigger. However after half the first movie, these issues were soon forgotten. The first movies you can tell were lower budget and not quite up to the standard of the others, but with good acting they got away with it. After the first 2, you see the budget increasing, and with this and a marvellous Hakeswill I really felt a whole new dimension to the novels. Especially at the new price, I highly recommend this series!

Having been impressed by the first two series of Deadwood, I was expecting another well written dramatic jewel. What a disappointment. The plot, such as there is, meanders along, with new (superfluous)characters thrown in with the obvious intent of providing continuity for the next (never to be completed) series, more incoherent drunken ramblings from Calamity Jane, a pointless cameo from Wyatt Earp and a finale that, by the time it arrives, is so overdue that it comes as a relief from the tedium, despite it's complete lack of drama.
Series 3 of Deadwood is rubbish. It could have been a masterpiece. However, having said that, the acting of Ian McShane et al is still superb. Pity the poor actors who have to work for such idiots as HBO - a gang of ... Read More:

"Kill Bill" was either a disaster-in-the-making or a one of a kind hit -- a sprawling revenge flick that had to be cut in two and released separately. But director Quentin Tarantino serves up entertainingly mindless gore and twisted thrills in "Kill Bill Volume 1," a salute to homages.
Tragedy strikes the Bride (Uma Thurman) on her wedding day: The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DiVAS) attacks and slaughters the guests, the groom, and wounds the very pregnant Bride herself. Her former boss/lover Bill (David Carradine) finishes the bloodbath by shooting the Bride in the head. But despite his efforts, she isn't dead.
A few years later, the Bride wakes to find that she has been in a coma for a few years, and has been being used as a sex ... Read More:

I grew up watching the original film so I expected not to like this version as much but I actually prefer it.
It's a lot darker than the original film and I found it very amusing.
I wasn't so impressed with all the added parts about Willy Wonka's father but apart from that it was all good. I think it's one of those films that's just as good for adults as it is for children.
And of course it has Johnny Depp in it, which is a great bonus!

An absolute classic of a film. Now over 45 years old and still an annual showing at Christmas time, the special effects of the genius that is Ray Harryhausen still astound me. An excellent story, great characters, the gods, the creatures and of course the fighting skeletons. Love it!!

Like Dynasty in crinolines, this wonderful drama develops at the perfect pace to involve the viewers in the lives of the characters long before the horrors of the civil war in the US begin. Two friends from military academy are on opposite sides once war breaks out - but in the beginning there is a believable friendship which results in family members meeting and marrying to form strong bonds. Foes from the academy reappear in war time and scheming southern belle Ashton can give Scarlett O'Hara a run for her money. Too many famous faces to mention but Kirsty Alley shines as abolishinist Virgillia - obsessed to the point of blindness by her belief in "the cause".
This is a fantastic drama of the type that used to grace our TV screens years ago. Well acted, good ... Read More:
