I thought Season One and Two were fantastic, and the mystery and lacks of answers was enthralling. However, I felt that Season Three started to go astray, and it just seemed to keep creating crazy questions just to keep us on the edge of our seats. If you felt that about Season Three, then you will continue to be frustrated with this season. Instead of flash-backs, we now have flash-fowards, which seem great, but through the progression of the season, the situation on the island becomes more and more ludicrous. I just want to provide a bit of information that is missing from the product listing, which is of great interest to many people. That is, has the transfer of the Theatrical Editions been improved over the insult that was released last time? And the answer is a plain and simple "no". The Special Edition is the same fantastic transfer as we've had before (albeit with the same bizarre discolouration problems) and the Original Theatrical Editions are still not anamorphic. Why? The overwhelming success of the Spider-Man and X-Men trilogies revitalised interest and credibility in superhero movies since the original Batman and Superman film franchises fell into great decline. Since then, floodgates have been opened, allowing all kinds of Marvel heroes to have a shot at cinematic stardom. Although (in my opinion) there haven't been any truly horrible Marvel films, the majority of these haven't lived up to the hype as they could've done. This movie is an unimaginative, disjointed, incomprehensible waste of time. Very poorly edited, it's a real botched version of Pullman's story which is itself far, far less 'special' than most Amazon reviewers would have you believe. I greatly enjoyed this film and it was a delight to watch an escapist SF/Superhero story that was presented to adults rather than 12 year olds. The detail in the sets and SFX combined with the plausible(ish) story and excellent acting makes for a satisfying experience. The blu-ray is very good and includes a full disc worth of extras, all in HD, that are actually worth watching. It's refreshing to see concept art presented in 1080 for example because it's possible to appreciate the artwork rather than just the concept (if you see what I mean). Raiders of the Lost Ark For all the criticisms George Lucas has received in recent times, we must remember that he did manage to come up with this gem of an idea for a perfect action film, and in doing so he created one of the most iconic action hero's that cinema has ever seen. A role perfectly played by its star, Harrison Ford. The script, written by Lawrence Kasdan, is expertly directed by Steven Spielberg, who by this stage of his career was firing on all cylinders. He takes Kasdan's script and perfectly balances the dialogue with the action creating a finely tuned fast paced action film.
