I'm not sure how I would rate this movie if I had not seen the Robotech saga. As a standalone sci-fi animation it, as some one else has already said, strictly by the numbers.
The story brings together characters from all three story arcs from Harmony Gold's Robotoch series. Rick Hunter is seen, as opposed to mentioned, Dana Sterling is actually drawn appropriately, and Scott is back, complete with Ariel.
The movie starts from just before the attack on Reflex Point, but from the view of the Mars force, not the resistance, then proceeds onwards in a very typical Robotech type story, though with less music than normal. It's nothing special, but reasonably well done. The animation suffers from being late 1990s computer ... Read More:

Today I recived my copy of Destiny Deoxys (I m a UK importer so :P) so in true Pokemon fanboy stlye I will review it!
Very good. It seems the producers have really gone downtown to chinatown (In other words did a good job). The opening explaining Pokemon was far better then what previous movies has done with all those Pokemon and so on.
Animation. Top notch. The 3D effects worked well and I m not the kinda guy that thinks 3D works well in animes or cartoons (Thinks of Final Fantasy Unlimited. EEK!).
Deoxys. Finally learned how to say "Deoxys". Had no voice so 4Kids could nt screw up in that department! lol. The way Deoxys moves is amazing. The flying, the morphing etc. Very nice.

Having watched the series of X (which is amazing, but sadly hasn't been brought out on region 2), I thought I'd invest in the film version, especially as it was only £3.50 and I could have it as a treat after finishing a pretty lengthy exam.
It wasn't as rewarding as I hoped for. The characters, which I had come to know and love throughout the series, were now paper-thin and the plot was weak. Understandably with so many characters they couldn't go into all of their backstories, but, given that the film is a pale 93 mins, they could have well fleshed some of them out. The odd pacing and plot holes means the viewer is left just as bemused as Kamui is. If I hadn't seen the series, I would've been completely lost! Furthermore, the animation is ... Read More:

If the film red 13 was talking about was Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, they need to know that it is only inspired by the final fantasy game series, where as Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is not only based on the Final Fantasy VII game it is also a continuation of the game being set two years after it. But no other cgi film can touch this one except maybe Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and the upcoming Resident Evil: Degeneration.

I agree that this is no jolly ghibli like experience but then who says that all anime must be. This is a truly deep and dark delve into the human mind in a way that is relevant and very brave. The artistry and overal structure of the film is sublime and as a live action would have won acclaim, yet animate it and people get very uncomfortable. The disturbing moments that do dipict rape are very much fundimental to the reasoning of character development and are not i believe the whim of a director trying to shock. If you can stick with this film and open your mind to see the truth of this film you will be greatly rewarded by what I consider to be the bravest anime out there. You will have to watch a few times to grasp the whole picture of the storyline but thats ... Read More:

After the long wait after series 2 part 2, Naruto returns with series 3 part 1. This 13 episode set contains episodes 53 -65.
This set carries on where the last one finished off, with the introduction of Jiraiya, the toad mountain sage. Jiraiya appears to be a comedic character who has immense strength; so much that Naruto gets him to train him for the final exam. The first part of this set is quite light hearted and fun, as opposed to the more serious tone of the last series, which is a breath of fresh air. Episodes 53 - 59 are set in th month leading up to the final exam. These episodes consist of Naruto's training, some characterisation of the villain Gaara and a filler episode involving the mischiveous Konohamaru. The final exam is a tornament between the finalists ... Read More:

If you have watched the series from start to finish, then this is an obvious must see. And whilst i did really enjoy the movie i do not think it was perfect.
Good points: Great action, compelling plot, good overall ending to the series.
Bad Points: They didn't round up some of the other characters stories (Winry for example). I wasn't convinced by the story and found it a bit botched in places, i thought it was a good idea to include aspects of our world into the overall story but to be honest i was expecting a little more alchemy.
Overall: A great way to end a fantastic series and a must watch. However, for me it failed to live up to the epic standards of the series and really i would give "The Conquer of Shambala" 3.5 stars if i could.
