On the positive side:
- This DVD collection is better value than buying the films separately. There is a fair bit of material here for £20.
- Considering that `Voices of a distant star' was produced entirely by the efforts of one man (on a desktop PC), it should be regarded as a major achievement and inspiration to other film makers.
On the negative side:
- His sci-fi story lines are lightweight and underdeveloped (Philipp K. Dick this ain't!).
- The animation is workmanlike, but not spectacular (the CGI bits are the most effective).
- His use of background music is overbearing, and spoils the mood of the film.
- The dialogue is mostly touchy/feely adolescent nonsense, lacking ... Read More:

I enjoyed Evangelion alot, and in general found the last episodes quite confusing so this helped me get the idea better.
This is how it should have been done originally.

This fourth Volume in the Guyver Series contains episodes 13 - 16.
Sho and Makashima set off without the rest of the group to rescue Sho's dad. After the father and son moments from the previous volume, there's more of the same here as Sho is consoled by his father as he breaks down. But their relationship is changed beyond anything they expected when Enzyme II makes an appearance.
This is a volume as the whole feel of the series changes after Sho ends up badly injured and the Guyver unit runs on autopilot for a while. We see the introduction of Zoalords and the divisions which have started to destabilise Chronos. We begin to understand the epic timescales involved which have led to this point in time and also learn about the history ... Read More:

I saw about half of the "Æon Flux" cartoons on MTV waaaaay back when they were first shown, and became a fan. And, boy, was I pleased when this box set came out . . . and was then reduced in price by the time I got around to buying it! The set, as advertised, contains EVERY "Æon Flux" cartoon made, and even a fun car ad made by the show's creator. Lots of extras for your added enjoyment, if not comprehension.
I can think of NOTHING else out there like it, not even the "Æon Flux" movie. If you've watched that film of the same name, you'll guess that the series centres around a Monican agent, Æon Flux, and her love / hate / business / assassination relationship with the Bregnan dictator, Trevor Goodchild. And that's where the similarities end. ... Read More:

Think 1920s America...Now think demons and monsters...and that is Chrono Crusade in a nutshell.
Rosette Christopher is a member of the Magadelane order who are a group of Nuns that specialise in exterminating devils...and in typical anime fashion, the only way these nuns can fight these devils is by shooting them and shooting them some more. However, beneath this is a deep and tragic story.
Throughout the story, Rosette is accompanied by a 'good' devil named Chrono who acts as her sidekick and companion. Together, it is their job to protect people from the devils. As can be expected, there is some truly brilliant action sequences on show here, which are nicely animated by acclaimed studio Gonzo who worked on titles such as Full Metal Panic, Gantz and Desert ... A new law has been passed in Tokyo. People are now allowed to carry guns at all times, and they're even allowed to use them. As expected crime has increased and the arrest rate has gone down. This is all thanks to the corrupt armed police force known as RAPT
Burst angel follows Jo and her all female group of mercenaries who undergo dangerous missions to try and maintain some order in the chaos. These impossibly proportioned girls do battle with terrorists a plenty with their incredible arsenal of gigantic guns and powerful giant armoured suits.
For the first half of this 24 part series the characters and themes are introduced through a series of two part episodes. These episodes are really enjoyable to watch as they are filled with plenty of OTT action, great ... Read More:

The ordinary school term that Kyon is expecting soon spins out of control, as transfer student Haruhi Suzumiya takes over in an attempt to stave off her boredom. This school drama quickly takes on wild sci-fi dimensions, as several classmates are revealed to be more than they seem. Genre conventions are parodied mercilessly, with hilarious results. The put-upon Kyon makes a wonderful narrator, unwillingly dragged into Haruhi's plans and at the mercy of her whims. This box set is just the 4 season 1 DVDs as originally released - not in slim cases, with no additional extras. Still, it is a good way to get the whole series in one go.
