I had quite high hopes for this film and possibly that would be the reason for my somewhat underwhelmed reaction to it, but this film falls short. The animation is amazing, from the train to each charachter to each scenic shot. The story is quite good, nothing ground breaking. However, to agree with another reviewer I found myself falling asleep. Once the train reaches its destination, which is about half way into the film, the film all of a sudden drags. It honestly seems like they hadn't intended to reach that point so soon so put together what seem to be scenes of random scenerios and circumstances for our main charachter as he explores off the intended track. Watched this a few years back but couldn't get on with the animation style. It was bought as a present for my 4yo who loves it. On re-watching I didn't have the same animation prejudice simply because Tim Burton has made it more 'acceptable'. Shallow of me I know but there you go.
The Aunts are fantastic in the 'real-life' section although I couldn't get on with the boy. Pete Postlethwaite still gives me the creeps (although that's from the Sharpe TV series rather than this film). In the animated section the bugs are all pretty good and the boy gets better. The songs are OK but I didn't find them particularly catchy. >>More Details |

Having read the reviews for Kipper I bought this DVD for my 18 month old. He loves it so much it prompted me to add my own review. He is captivated by Kipper, the simple and entertaining stories and the characters. He asks for Kipper by name now and even does a dance to the opening music! He giggles out loud at the hamster in Pigs Present. Its lovely to have a DVD that I can put on for 10 minutes and know that Aaron will enjoy every minute. I would recommend this to everyone.

Well it had a few Ho Ho but not the best out of the others.

I've watched this show on TV and went to buy the first few episodes DVD as soon as I could, even though I know what happens, I still wanted the DVD. I know it's had a few bad reviews but I really love this show. I like most things to do with dancing, singing and performing etc and this is definitely one of my favourite shows! I'd highly recommend it.

Peppa Pig is a loveable, funny piglet and these stories are so wonderfully made that little people can easily relate to her.
This set is EXCELLENT value for money - you get 32 episodes (roughly each 5 minutes long) and each DVD has added extras. I have listed the episodes below as they are on each disc - Muddy Puddles; Flying A Kite and New Shoes. I think Amazon must have changed the misleading photo mentioned by the first review. I absolutely love anything and everything pertaining to discworld; I have 2 characters on the Discworld online game, one of which is a newbie helper. I've listened to every single one of the discworld books at least twice, and preordered the Colour of Magic DVD the very second I possibly could. With all that being said, I simply had to get my hands on this movie as soon as I heard it existed. Fortunately, I have a region free DVD player, so I ended up purchasing this region 2 2 disc edition of Hogfather. I can't say enough about how much I love

If you're a fan of Shane Meadows (This is England et al) you'll probably love this too. A very very cool, witty and dry look at life in the 80s through the eyes of a neglected little tough guy and his mate from an Amish-like community. Sweet, meticulous and full of brilliant dialogue - plus great acting from the little nippers - it's a new British classic.
