This set of film are good but not great the first two are very well known and the third is a great addition to the films but the fourth really lets this boxset down I would recomend buying these film as single films or the boxset of the three films.
I haven't read the fourth book yet, so can't make any comment about how true the plot runs. However, what struck me most about this film, is how much the pupils of Hogworts seem to have grown up! They're moody, argumentative, and when Ron told Harry to 'p*** off' I had to rewind to make sure I'd heard him correctly! Its clearly aimed more at an older audience, as the first three films were much more child friendly - I'm not sure if I like this turn of direction, and I certainly wouldn't recommend this one for younger viewers! But that aside, its still a great film and builds upon the success of the previous Harry Potter films very nicely.

I bought this set just for the nostalgia. I forgot how joyous it can be. It has something that's lacking from current childrens television. It has optimism, a feeling that life is wonderfull. It encourages you to appreciate every little thing in the world. I don't want to sound too sappy but it really put a huge smile on my face when I watched it after so many years. It's lost none of it's charm. As a child some of the humour was lost on me. There's honestly some laugh out loud moments in this that adds to the appeal for adults like me seeking to relive a bit of thier childhood. If you don't want to get this for yourself, then get it for your kids. It's surely better than some of the brainwashing nonsense on tv today such as Teletubbies (a show ... Read More:

This has kept the same charming and beautifully presented stories faithfully. Jim Broadbent is perfect for Percy the Parkkeeper (despite the last thing i saw him in was Moulin Rouge - hilarious!). The stories are a little more involved than say Kipper or the Thomas stories, and are brilliant for children who are able to sit and listen to a story rather than just watch the pictures. And mommies and daddies will enjoy it too :)

Firstly, I can't believe that my life has come to this that I am writing a review for Fireman Sam! Sad - Yes, but I feel compelled on behalf of all the little people like my son who worship this cheeky yet slightly smug fire fighter, to warn potential purchasers of this dvd of the imminent disappointment they will experience when their kids watch this pile of squit!
I can't be alone in watching this and thinking 'Why?'. What were they thinking when they took a world wide successful format and sterilised it in to just another one of those drab computer animations that's instantly forgettable. Apparently the original creators S4C sold the rights to 'HIT Entertainment' - on the evidence of this effort, HIT decided to sub the job out to a cheap ... Read More:

In terms of pacing and story this is closer to My Neighbour Totoro than to the more action-packed Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away but this is certainly not a criticism.
The plot, as much as it has one, centres on Kiki - a 13 year old witch - trying to make a business for herself in a big city away from her parents. Being young and a learner she finds this harder to accomplish than she expected but ends up living with a kindly baker and starting a broomstick delivery service. Along the way she meets and inspires an artist, helps an old lady with some household chores and finds an admirer in a local boy. With the exception of a bit of action towards the end, that is all that really ... Read More:

Matilda was originally written as a children¡¦s novel by Roald Dahl (tales of the unexpected) in 1988. His wry wit and humour certainly makes the book an enjoyable read and this humour still shows in Danny DeVito¡¦s movie version of the novel with a contrast of both American and English actors.
The film is about a young girl called Matilda played wonderfully by Mara Wilson (Miss Doubtfire). Though at the time, Wilson was fairly new to the acting scene; her acting skills still comes across as charming.
Another great actor in the film is the director, Danny DeVito (Mars Attacks), who also plays both the narrator and Matilda¡¦s father. DeVito is both clever and witty throughout ... Read More:

I was a big fan of the original Thomas the Tank Engine books as a child. I bought the books for my 3yo daughter, and she loved them, so I took a chance with the dvd (having never seen it on tv). I need not have worried.
It's a lovely telling of the stories. True to the originals in tone and text it both stands on its own and also really complements the books.
