This is a truly wonderful childrens film. Jim Hensen outdoes himself. This is so enjoyable. As a child I loved it as have my children since.
It is a great adventure and has mystical elements to it. There are dwarfs, goblins, a goblin king, all kinds of creatures in this film. Its about a spoilt girl who lives with her father, step mother and baby step brother. She seems a little jealous of her step brother and that she no longer has her father's undivided attention. She reads a book called "The Labyrinth", a favourite book that she recites passages from. She wishes her baby brother away and is horrified when her wish comes true! The goblin king appears to her. Two out of the three classic children's films are BBC adaptations.
The Lion,the witch and the wardrobe is a beautiful adaptation of the C.S Lewis classic.Anyone expecting Hollywood style special effects is going to be very disappointed as like all BBC releases,it's controlled by the budget!! Don't let this put you off though as it is a true classic of children's television.Wonderfully acted and spread out into a six part series, it will appeal mostly to small children and is an excellent introduction to the literary delights of C.S Lewis. I remember watching this film when i was growing up and decided to have a flashback so i went online to buy this little beutie of a film.
I forgot how much i loved the character of Farmer hogget, amazingly played and he makes me feel all warm inside, wish he was my grandad :P and who could forget about those cheerful little mice as a nice little extra. Some people consider "Bug's Life" as not being on the same level of quality as other Pixar productions, but I really can not agree with them. My daughter clearly wouldn't agree either. This is a very funny movie, with a lot of interesting innovations (we will never look at bugs in the same way, me and my family) and a kind of surprising kindness - even the bad guys are shown with some understanding (having chosen the life of parasite racketeers, they are now trapped by it - as much as their ant victims). The principal hero is possibly one of the most likeable characters I ever saw. A little warning - there is one scene at the end, of the final demise of the leader of grasshoppers, that can impress the littlest children (under 6) - otherwise this movie is just perfect. The ... I regard Lady and The Tramp as one the best Disney classics that I have watched. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this classic. Disney has delivered a masterpiece with this fine piece of animation feature length.
Lady and The Tramp truly reflects the key values and qualities of what Disney films entail, which include endless humour, uplifting music and colourful characters. The storyline is a sweet romantic tale about two loveable dogs; a Lady (Spaniel) and Tramp (Irish terrier) and the innocence of this special bonding is something to really admire. The setting of the movie is based in the 1950's, which is beautifully delivered with wonderful animation you can highly praise within that specific time.
