On the surface this is a 'love story', although after you pass the half way point it reveals itself as more than that. It is in essence about how people believe what they are told, almost without question and how many of those people act on what they are told and not on observable facts. They are therefore open to manipulation.
This film should be required viewing for anyone called to be on a jury, because it is interesting to see the film maker use you the viewer and your preconceptions to make you believe things that are simply not true. It therefore shows how distorted people fabricate deceit around them... and all in the brightly colored, fluffy world of 'romance'. magic - go buy it.

I really like the actor David Morse and he steals the show here. Well Labeouf is pretty good here too, in a very boy-next-door way, but Morse is genuinely frightening. The plot unravels in a pretty shoddy way. I mean what happens at the end? I understand it's a fun film but none of the characters look at all shaken up by what's happened; it's a bit sick actually, as if this is what happens regularly.
much camper than rear window, and downright silly in places, it is worth a watch, if that's your cup of tea and i have to admit it is mine.

I was bowled over by this series. I'd never seen it on TV until I bought it in Thailand (yes an offical copy too). The Thais love the series too right from my 60 year old Uncle to my 2 year old Daughter. This show could run for years.....

...Oh, you thought that was The Wire? Th Shield is much better. Everything here is driven by character - and these are some of the most fascinating, flawed, complex characters to be found anywhere in fiction. There are none of the archly winsome performances and "writerly" dialogue and scene juxtapositions that in The Wire keep reminding you that you're watching a work of fiction. The Shield sucks you right in. Start at the beginning and you're in for a visceral experience that is the nearest TV drama has got to Shakespearean tragedy.

Some might describe these movies as what we used to laugh at. I must confess that I still do, and I always will laugh at these wonderful old British films.
Margaret Rutherford is the definitive Miss Marple in my opinion. Later productions (for TV) are watchable and enjoyable, and may be more true to Agatha Christie. Here however, is a compelling strength of character and a thick seam of comedy running right through four flawless performances. Somehow, I can watch them again and again, and still laugh at things like a theatrical gesture, or a piece of dryly comic dialogue.
Praise to Plymouth's own Ron Goodwin for composing that distinctive theme that always brings a smile to my face, because I know what is in store.

I love CSI Miami. While the others in the franchise (Las Vegas and New York) have both long since reached their plateau of interest and jumped off the other side into entertainment freefall, Miami continues ever upwards to greater heights almost unchallenged.
Why is it so much better than the others though? Well for a start they've only really bothered to tweak the formula with this one and so there is much more action in a typical 'Miami' episode that an entire series of 'NY'.
But for the most part it is the appallingly bad acting by David Caruso that makes this show so damned watchable!
Taken straight from Joey from Friends "smell the fart" school of method acting, he can almost always be seen, hands on hips, side on to the person ... Read More:

This film looks very good, the set, cinematography and initially the atmosphere, but the more i watched it the more i was left bemused as to why a posh english couple were fighting for the Soviet Union, allot of the accents are bad in this film but at least they're making some effort.
The film starts to get quite interesting when the German sniper comes on the scene but then the love story starts to develop and thats the point when you want to switch it off.
This film is mildly entertaining ( if you can cope with the dodgy accents ), but i think Jude Law is a terrible actor and if you, like me can't stand the guy then stay well away.
