The first couple of episodes are thinner than expected and I wondered what I'd got myself into but patience is rewarded as the series develops: the plots improve dramatically and the actors settle in to their roles. Not as good as the HBO/Baltimore shows but it may evolve some more.

The idea of a film about a British policeman in a small country village is more likely to conjure up thoughts of Midsomer Murders rather than Bad Boys II. However Edgar Wright manages to fuse together the fast paced action of one with the typical Englishness of the other in the excellent comedy Hot Fuzz written by and starring Simon Pegg. It is a hysterically funny police comedy with lots of action and spoof horror.
Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is the Met's number one police officer, but he is so efficient that his co-workers want to get rid of him. He is promoted to sergeant and moved to the small town of Sandford in Gloucestershire. When he gets there he is disappointed by the lack of crime in the village, and he is bewildered that the ... I watched this movie in 3 instalments because it's nearly 3 hours long.
It was okay but the storyline and style of acting and actors were much like I've seen in countless gangster type films like this one.It was a little predictable and I think the fact that Martin Scorsese got the man who was writing the story as a book to delay finishing the book and help him write a screenplay lowered the quality.Screenplays usually work best when a finished and established book is adapted for the screen.

This is the second part of season 1 so if whoever's reading this is thinking of buying the second part I would assume that you've got the first 12 episodes. I have already done a review on part 1 but just as a recap, C.S.I is a show based around the graveyard shift of the Las Vegas Criminal Investigations unit following cases they come across and how they solve those cases using forensics.
The second part of this season has 11 episodes instead of 12 like the first part. There are some extras these being interviews with the stars of the show. Don't get too excited though. The majority of them are just extended versions of the interviews already included as extras on part 1 of the season. There is some new stuff though so it's not a complete rehash. I would ... I've always loved this film, I had it on tape for years. It's a great story, intelligent, with superb acting. Other reviews say it all
What did annoy me was that the DVD is two-sided. You have to watch half the film, then turn the DVD over to watch the other half. This isn't going to be enough to irritate everybody but it really irrited me, and I really wouldn't have bought it if I'd known about the format.
I'm the lazy type who likes to settle down, surrounded by food, and not get up again until the film is finished and there's no food left. Like I said, not going to bother everybody but still worth knowing.

President James Marshall (Ford) is in danger when a group of Russian terrorists take control of Air Force One.
Wolfgang Peterson (In the line of fire) delivers a fast and tense action thriller in which Harrison Ford (Star Wars) gives a good performance as President Marshall alongside a terrific act by Gary Oldman (Dracula) as the lead terrorist Ivan Korshunov.
Ford and Oldman give good performances but the star of the show is Peterson whose action style of direction maintains the tension and delivers excitement and claustrophobia on all the right levels, as does the writing by Andrew Marlowe.
The film gets off to the right start with a group of agents parachuting into General Radek's mansion and kidnapping him, laying down the tone for ... Read More:

Wow - I sat down with my teenage son to watch a movie, and I must say I've just finished watching it and if I was ever tempted at my age to take drugs again, this film would certainly put me off - it was mean and gritty and scarey and honest and all those things together with powerful images and I wish every teen out there would get it and watch it before they take their first line of coke.
I loved the links between the mum and the son, drugs whatever shape or form can cause dreadful harm. a fab film just not one to watch before bedtime. xx

Collecting the four movies featuring `official' Bond number five, Pierce Brosnan:
Goldeneye: Pierce Brosnan and Martin Campbell (director of the BBC's classic eco-thriller Edge Of Darkness) brought the Bond series back from the brink with this formulaic but rewarding effort, both a homage to, and an updating of, the old formula. Brosnan, in his debut as Bond, tries his hardest to flesh out the character, whilst Sean Bean is good value as the villain. Famke Janssen gives what is still her most memorable movie performance as the sexually voracious Xenia Onnatopp, but on the downside Judi Dench's luvvie, career-woman M makes her unwanted debut, Alan Cumming ponces around in that way that only Alan Cumming can, and Robbie Coltrane struggles with a Russian accent. Still, with Brosnan not ... Read More:

For me, the movie itself is a nineties' classic: action, adventure and humour blended together seamlessly to provide a thoroughly enjoyable (if untaxing) two hour break from reality.
Unfortunately, this DVD release is WOEFUL. I could forgive the complete lack of extras (not even a trailer or production notes) but the picture looks like a poor transfer from VHS: it may be anamorphic, but it suffers from clear macro-blocking, colour shifts, artifacing and wholly excessive grain from the opening Warner Bros logo to the end credits. The entire disc takes up less than 3.5gb: given the complete lack of additional material, I find it perplexing that Warner Bros didn't at least use up the remaining free space to give the video a much-needed boost in bitrate.
