Series six does not reallly measure up to the high standards Spooks has set. First of all, visually it's much more conventional than the earlier series. But stories and characters were always Spooks' strongest assets. The stories are just not as gripping as they used to be and they seem to be running out of ideas. The first two episodes are about biological warfare, the third is about chemical warfare. The development of the storylines is sometimes not very convincing in terms of arriving at a solution. Too often there is the deus ex machina which is not satisfying. The characters are interesting as always, particularly nerw arrival Connie. Ros was never my favourite character but now she defintely develops in s very strange way. That in itself ... Read More:

Quite simply the best TV series ever made. Blows every other American and British TV dramas out of the water. Watch from season 1 through to 5 and be astounded and amazed at what heights TV drama can reach. From street corners to the corridors of power in Baltimore, stories are told in staggering detail. Excellent cast, fantastic characters. The Wire season 5 is just as good as seasons 1 - 4. The story ends, good guys don't always win, bad guys get away, so authentic in it's depiction is what makes it so good. No more seasons of the wire? In the words of Clay Davis "Shiiiiiiiiiit"

I bought this because it would save me space. It's the size of a normal DVD box, feels great and looks slick.
The DVD's in themselve are great as everyone knows. A fourth? It might be in the pipeline but wasn't written by the guy who wrote the original books.
The story as it goes in brief if you haven't already discovered. Bourne is an agent for the US government. Sent to do a job which goes array. He losses his memory and from the beginning of the first film, Bourne tries to recall who he is and tries to work out his memories.
The plot starts in the Med. and takes us on a rollercoaster of a ride. Visiting all the big hitters in Europe. France, Germany, England to the USA for a grand finale.
In the DVD set that I have, the disc with the face of Tom Quinn indicated as disc 1 is actually disc 2. Imagine my puzzlement when I was waiting to see how the cliffhanger from series 1 would be resolved. Of course, if you look at where the indicating arrow on the rack in the opening menu is pointing, you then know which episode you should be viewing. I am a fan of Spooks and have watched every series to date but like a number of other people, I find the DVD set up annoying. A brief guide to each episode or at least an episode title on the case sleeve would help. I have resorted to inserting written notes in the case !

As a die-hard X-Phile, I was excited to hear that a brand new movie had been released. I was expecting the story to pick up somewhat where the show had left off; to see Mulder and Scully trying to stop the impending world colonisation from aliens, the set date of which they had learned in the final series of the show. I had also hoped to see involvement from A.D Skinner and the highly likeable show characters Monica Reyes and John Doggett.
I was very disappointed to find that apparantly the deadly invasion of earth was of no further interest to Mulder and Scully (it's not mentioned once, in fact) and that their friends Reyes and Doggett are no longer involved in their lives. Skinner makes an all too brief appearance, having been out of their lives also for what seems a ... Read More:

Morse is one of those classic series that never seems to date and had a fantastic cast. Chief Inspector Morse played by the now late but brilliant John Thaw previously known as tough cop Reagan on the Sweeney. And Kevin Whatley as long suffering Lewis who nine times out of ten solves the crime before Morse. Then there is James Grout who played the gruff Chief Superindentant Strange who also suffers Morse's moods. This series has a feel like no other crime drama set in sleepy Oxford with Morse driving his classic Mk2 Jaguar. He also mulls over a Murder in a Pub ,over a Pint of ale with Lewis dragged along. The guest cast is also well planned and played though the 33 feature length episodes. They are very slow moving and nothing like the glitzy American shows of the 1990's. This new slimmer ... You can try to compare Spooks to US series like 24 but for me Spooks is on a whole different level to 24. After a few short series 24 is starting to go stale with the same kind of plots being played out season after season. The explosions get bigger but the bottom line is still the same. Spooks on the other hand seems to go from strength to strength with every passing season. Yes there are only 10 episodes per season but that gives you some idea of the amount of thought that goes into every episode. I think the reason Spooks gets stronger with every episode is because it doesn't rely on the explosions and gun-battles that 24 does to make an impact. Spooks relies on it's storyline, some fantastic acting and so much realism that you actually finish an episode thinking `bloody hell we're ... Read More:

Oh dear, A very tired film, with none of the atmosphere of the last film nor of the fantastic t.v series. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson seemed tired and indifferent to the characters they were playing that made them so famous! The storyline was ok, but, little imagination was used and it could, and, should of been a lot better. for the first hour its about scully not wanting to join up with mulder and the rest is simply forgetful.Having been an avid fan for many years I find myself hoping that this will be 'The End'.The X Files: I Want To Believe (1 Disc Edition with Exclusive Free X Files Poster)
