No one should have to put this much effort in trying to get through a film - somehow the French are excellent at this kind of torture - don't waste your time, I couldn't find ANY redeeming features in it.

Unless a person has been through the isolation of teenage days trying desperately to come to terms with different feelings towards ones own sex, then this DVD will not be upto expectations. It is one of the most unsettling, lonely coming to terms I have seen protrayed. Jimmie is a natural actor. The parts of the film which are in silence need no script. It is a thought reminding film for those who have come through the period of trying to understand why feelings are different to others around you, and yet quite natural. For those who seek a thrill type film, they will be disappointed. Jimmy is well cast and a besides being an artist to watch on ice, also a remembrance of how difficult it is to accept feelings different from others.

I have to agree with all the previous reviewer wrote. This is certainly one of the most moving stories I have ever seen related on film, and to realise it is true life makes the memory of it more painfully alluring. It caught me as soon as I started watching and I was glued, partly with admiration of a well made film, and partly with horror at this demonstration of how rotten life can be to the good, right to its ending. The acting was all first class, though I have to say the first fight scene between the roomates was a little bit wooden. The stars were rivetting - though I missed out on why the two main leads were initially attracted to each other (I can see her attraction to him - he was not only beautiful but also all things reasonable ... I am afriad this film depresses me from the beginning to the end. The characters in the story are not convincing. The plot is really weak and the actors are not acting but just keep on talking in front of the camera. The quality of the picture is really bad and the acting is incredibly amateurish!

It's rare to see a film in which the characters, of any sexuality, actually seem that they are in love with each other. That's beautifully done here.
Contrary to one of the other reviews, I found the pacing of the film just right: yes, not a lot happens, but it doesn't need to. I can't think of anything to criticise except maybe that it's a pity the "deleted scenes" on the DVD couldn't be included. Highly recommended.
Some guys have all the luck. To be young, Danish (blond, blue-eyed, bright and beautiful) and discovering independence and love makes a great story, and may even be based on truth. It's not just about growing up, finding friendship, loyalty and sex, but also breaking free, and taking democracy seriously. The message of this film is: Stop worrying, be yourself, do it; and this should be in every secondary school video library. It is at first difficult to tell girls from boys except from the right angle, but this turns out to be an all-boys school. But not exactly Etonian. If you care about youth, beauty and freedom, this is for you. Five stars are not enough.

As a fan of French cinema, Jean-Marc Barr's "One to Another" (French, English subtitles) is a treat: complex emotions, ambiguous sexuality, the darkest human passions, stylistic manipulations - it's all there.
20-something brother and sister, Pierre and Lucie, are the centre of a group of five friends in a rural French town. Pierre (the stunning Arthur Dupont) is the glue...his draws the group (Lucie and their three males friends) together, as he nonchalantly seduces each of them (literally and/or emotionally) with his charismatic, dominating personality and raw sexuality. Not content with such a limited audience, Pierre - the eternal nihilistic showman - also toys with closeted older men from the town with his sexual shenanigans.
While the film is ultimately concerned with issues of youth identity and the claustrophobic society of underclass teenagers, there are a number of interesting sub-plots, particularly the contrast between Tano's youthful nihilism and his older brother's defeated acquiescence in his 'lot' in life. In addition, the acting is impressive, particularly given that Tano was really ... Read More:
