This is a superb value dvd with two excellent Ferry concerts on the one disc.
The first concert is from the Bete Noire tour of 1988/89 featuring some roxy/ferry classics (Ladytron,In Every Dream Home etc.)as well a several tracks from the then recent Boys and Girls & Bete Noire albums. The one let down is the dreadful histrionics of the lead guitarist who's appalling hairstyle makes him look like a reject from some horrible heavy metal band!
The second gig is from the Frantic tour of 2002 with an excellent band (Chris Spedding,Mick Green,Paul Thompson etc.) celebrating 25 years of Virgin Germany. It is another stunning show though the Munich crowd is strangely unresponsive(at one point Bryan says"lets hear it for Virgin ... Read More:

This film of Verdi's Otello has an awful lot going for it. Ably led by the masterful conducting of Lorin Maazel, the performance enshrines marvellous portrayals of Otello and Desdemona by Domingo and Ricciarelli who deliver performances which both vocally and on the screen often touch greatness. With the typically sumptuous sets of Zefferelli, the film is often quite memorable (for example, at the unforgettable close of the first act).
Yet, as previous reviewers have pointed out, it is indeed a pity that the director chose to cut the Willow Song. That said, with a running time of 1hr 58Mins, Zefferelli wields the axe on Verdi's score with disconcerting ease, with the consequence that the poetic beauty of Boito's libretto and the dramatic ... Nice collection but there's a huge space where Don Felder should be. The session guy gets the notes (most of them anyway) but not the feel, and they made him stand way over to the left just so there was no mistaking the fact that he wasn't really part of the 'family' . When Felder plays on HFO the pure enjoyment and mastery comes bursting out of the screen and overall HFO it is the best production but I bought them both anyway.

Wow, i have never played a guitar in my life, but watching this dvd makes learning to play, easy and also fun.
The dvd has a great menu system, so you can repeat each step until you have mastered the technique. Keith wyatt makes this dvd so easy to follow and is great at explaining each step.I recommend this to anyone who's a beginner and to those who are still learning, Well worth every penny. A must buy!

Overall I think this is a great set and an absolute must for fans of AC/DC. My only gripe and the reason that I've given if four stars and not five is that the concert had Simon Wright on drums. Sorry, but love AC/DC as I do and I have been a fan for 31 years now, I never could quite accept Simon Wright as Phil Rudd's replacement, to me his sound was never quite right, something was missing. Mr Wright certainly was never Mr Right in my opinion. I would rather they had included a concert with Phil on drums, from the For Those About to Rock tour would've been great. Chris Slade however was a great drummer and far more suitable than Simon Wright. Like Phil he had a good strong solid sound. Simon Wright always sounded to me like he was building a shed. I would rather ... Read More:

Got my Classic Album DVD in the post this morning. Was having a grey week (and it's only Tuesday) so I saved it until this evening, and now that the winter nights have drawn in, I turned all the lights off, cranked up the DVD through the stereo, and got comfortable on the sofa.
Wow.
I've gotta say, if you watch this as one big whole, ploughing straight into all of the extra interview material straight after the main doco, it's hands-down the best Duran documentary I've ever seen. All of the comments are great, the contributors are concise and informed, and the diverse and fantastic background information provides such evocative context that, for once, the real, true Duran seems to have been nailed. In short, the story this Classic Albums has to ... Read More:

I am new to John Mayer & have bought this DVD on the back of his performances on the 2 'Crossroads' DVDs.
It's a bit difficult to categorize Mayer as although he is undoubtedly a very accomplished guitarist he does not seem to highlight his own playing very much. Rather he seems to throw his real efforts into his singing which, as has already been noted, is very Stevie Ray Vaughan in quality, so that his guitar work seems to come second in his priorities. A shame as he really has some talent that works equally well when unleashed & raw,(his work on 'Who did you think I was' is really very impressive), or when stripped down to the bone in the quite beautiful & moving cover of Tom Pettys' 'Freefalling' with just mayer, an acoustic guitar & 2 others providing ...
