A well produced CD which gives great background to the choir and their 3 CD journey. A thoughtful DVD and in some ways gives the clue that maybe as I feel the last CD home is not as good as what went before. I would say buy this DVD instead.

Like the other reviewers here I watched this on BBC Four and it was certainly an interesting documentary. In some ways one time confirmed Reaganite Neil Young went up in my estimation, although he is still comes across at the age of 63 as confused, self centred, and contradictory as a teenager - no doubt one of the reasons he has stayed musically relevant over the years.Unfortunately, the two most politically aware members of CSNY, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, don't really get much credit. At the beginning of the doc CSNY are introduced as legendary anti-war performers, which I confess, as someone who saw them live in 1974, I found rather confusing, because it was in fact CS&N who were overtly anti-war.For those who doubt this and think I'm ... What can I say , that 1000's of Jam Fans have not said before me , Its good to see at least 2 of the remaining set up get up and prove to the world that The Jam , beat and sound is not dead and will live on for a long time , all the songs are as they should be done , chord and word perfect , close your eyes and it could easily be Weller but its not , but who really cares as Russell Hastings has managed to fill his shoes in his own unique style , while Bruce and Rick just keep the whole thing going , not forgetting Dave Moore who has added that vital Keyboard link that was sometimes missing , GO ON THIS IS MONEY WELL SPENT

This is as described - a documentary account of the making of the Cirque du Soleil LOVE show in Las Vegas. To expect a complete performance of the stage show would be asking too much. The show, like any other designed for the stage has to be seen..er...on the stage.
We've all heard criticism of the soundtrack album and about how the sacred work shouldn't be played around with - BUT don't forget, it's a soundtrack to a show, just as this film is a documentary about the way that the show came to life.
One thing that comes over in the film, as in the show, is the care in portraying the main players (ie the Beatles) as having a great collective sense of humour. Something easy to forget all these years later.
Having seen the show twice now, I ... Read More:

I will try not to be too negative.
I found it painful to watch this movie , I mad ethe incredible mistake of reading the book 2 years before I saw the movie and I was slighty worried about the cast but my cocerns turned into nightmares as the caracterisation was totally woeful , john Hurt can be saved with a mildly credible accent and some decent acting.
Kefallonia is a beatifil Island with glorious sunsets and multiple colours to make any cinematographis enterprise shine but the director ( whoever he/ she was ) missed every single oportinity.
The sexual tension between the main actors is non existant and the plot has been "sexed-up" to make suitable to American audiences.
Really for fans only, and undiscriminating fans at that. Some fascinating archive footage which really takes you back to the grey, grim days of England in the 70s, some good concert footage (though not a lot that you can't get elsewhere), but for me the relentless mythologising, by the various (largely un-named and uncredited) interviewees, and by Joe himself gets a bit wearying. The Clash made some tremendous music, but Joe himself, while his constant seeking after some kind of truth and justice is laudable, wasn't the clearest or most consistent of political thinkers and shouldn't be celebrated as such. I also lost patience with the Julian Temple style; the free-association of loosely-related images with the Strummer story quickly came to seem less playfully ... Read More:

This is an amazing set and excellent value for money. There are two DVDs and two CDs.
The Black Symphony concert has Within Temptation backed by the Metropole Orchestra and is an amazing visual and audio spectacle. I particularly like the quiet mid-section where they play songs like Memories and the Swan Song.
One DVD has the Black Symphony concert and a few extras, the other DVD has yet another concert, this time without the Metropole, plus even more extras like interviews and videos. The second concert has some tracks, like Jane Doe, which were not played with the Metropole, so is also worth watching.
On the back of my DVD of The Last Waltz, which is almost certainly the same as this edition, it's described as "one of the most important cultural events of the last two decades!" In the first place, it was made three decades ago. In the second place, that's an absurd description of what was nothing more than a glossy and overblown documentary of a moderately good live performance.
The Band's drummer Levon Helm, in his bawdy, gritty and very readable autobiography 'This Wheel's On Fire', describes the circumstances of the original concert; guitarist Robbie Robertson had got tired of touring and wanted to go out with a bang. Helm was incredulous that Robertson wanted to take the band off the road, but feeling that he had no choice he consented to Scorsese filming ... Read More:

Can't believe the ridiculous comments of Mr Reed, clearly not a Stone's fan, I've been a Fan since their second single & first album which I purchased when I was at school and remained a Fan ever since, and no, not a Fanatic just a Fan!
I with some other old friends went to the Premiere at one of the chosen Cinema's and we all thought that it was just fantastic, now that I have bought the DVD and played it back in DTS mode with a good high volume I enjoyed it even more. Yes, o.k. Keith's vocal on 'Connection' isn't outstanding but he does do a good job of 'You Got The Silver' and even though Paul Weller's been told for smoking on stage, in the States where the ban came in sooner clearly Keith doesn't give a monkey's, which has always been a Stones trait for all of us who ...
