I saw this film when it first came out and have probably played the DVD 50+ times since. The first time I saw it in the cineme I was bowled over by its impact and the music and made sure that the next time I saw it in the cinema (the very next day) that I was sitting in the very front row and I simply let the whole imagery wash over me and engulf me totally. Amazing on DVD but even more remarkable in the cinema.... if its ever re-released for Cinema release make sure you see it there as well as keeping the DVD for private indulgence!

This is a classic piece of lampooning. The songs are surprisingly good parodies of The Beatles, and the many star faces make this a very high value piece of comedy.
No Direction home is a documentary over 2 discs charting the rise of Bob Dylan and his affect on music and the world.
Disc 1 is somewhat harder to watch, spending a lot of time talking to other musicians about the music scene in general, lots of live footage of other bands and not enough Dylan. While it is interesting it's more a history of folk music than a Dylan documentary.
Disc 2 follows on but features Dylan far more closely. The documentary includes a vast amount of archive footage that is fascinating to watch. Everything builds until Dylan eventually introduces electric performances to his sets and his fans cry out against him.
I have watched these discs and have a much greater appreciation for Dylan as ... Read More:

Can't say more. Excellent video quality, their performance is brilliant, several friends have gone out and bought this having seen my copy.

If there's one thing that's made McFly last as long as they have done for the past 5 years, it's the fact that they pull out pretty much all the stops when it comes to playing live and touring, which is illustrated perfectly on this DVD which accompanied the top 5 album of the same name.
Filmed last September at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, whilst their "Greatest Hits" show may lack some of the pyromaniac pizazz that their arena tours usually have - i.e. big video screens and a little podium for Harry's drums to levitate about on - this is an enjoyable, intimate and engaging set that shows off not only their performing prowess but also the funny, often heartwarming crowd interaction - particularly on performances of tracks like "Obviously", "Friday Night", ... After seeing this concert live at the MEN in Manchester and being a little disappinted at not being able to see KG & JB clearly, I have waited 2 long years for this DVD's release. It so far has not disappointed! The footage of the concert is clear and well filmed and gives you up close footage of the D rocking with a really tight band. I have yet to look at the documentary but I will endeavour to report back when I do. I expected a documentary along the same lines as their Masterworks 1 DVD, somewhat of a mickey take. But thats not what this documentary has turned out to be. Following the flop of a movie, which did disappoint even their most avid fans, the tour which this documentary charts takes on a different angle. If you want to see a top rock band strutting their ... Read More:

Much is made of the factual inaccuracies of this story. In fact if you have the good fortune to read the excellent book JOLIE -THE STORY OF AL JOLSEN by Michael Freedland, the truth is not as far away as you may think. First of all the man had to have an ego do what he was doing, cope with the fame and up to a point survive. He had certain character traits that others had, a temper, meanness followed by generosity and so on that were minimised and ignored for the most part by the film. You can only tell so much of a story and maintain the interest of the watcher. Personalities devolve in to composite characters and so on. Like for most mature vocalists, the music has to be several steps lower as the range changes with age. As with Sinatra and others this was a bonus and Jolsen's ... Read More:

Led Zep in their prime 1968-1980, they had there chance for world domination, but they always wanted us keep to waiting for more. With little or no interviews, no singles, no videos, no live snipits on the old grey whistle test. They didn't count on their drummer snuffing it in Sep 1980. He unfortunately was the best part of the band. 27 years on they play at the o2 for just a few select people and couldn't even be bothered to release that on DVD. Good old you tube helped out, but some guys shakey phone from aisle 150 just doesn't cut it. Then just when I thought it was safe there's jimmy page at the Bejing Olympics, fantastic (that'll be enough gigging for 2008 jimmy). Finally Robert Plant needs to wake up before he ends up in a retirement home wishing he had just done one last tour and album ... Read More:
