As i have always maintained Season 1 of voyager is the most boring star trek season of all of them. it might not be what everyone might be thinking however i recommend season 1 so you know how season 2 works out.
Certain characters and races/organizations you might not be aware of if you have never watched TNG or DS9 but you have watched VOY, are listed below:
Watched this on a rainy Sunday afternoon with my six year old. Next rainy Sunday afternoon I might watch something a bit more upbeat. Schindlers List perhaps!

What... was that it!!! was that what all the fuss was about? I can't believe I've just wasted 2hrs of my life plus forked out for tickets, pop corn & drinks to just to sit through this poorly written pap. The cast are OK & the effects & story are beleivable & passable enough on their own but dear, oh dear has no one bothered to tell the writter/direct how to build any suspence? At one point the script resembles a Christmas Panto more than a Hollywood blockbuster 'its behind you'

Following the hugely impressive 2002 mini-series, Season One, which came out in 2004 started strongly and continued its strikingly retro/realistic look and feel. All science fiction is really about the present and BG in particular has a reputation for intelligent even philosophical allegory of the themes preoccupying modern western societies. Unfortunately this seems to get in the way of telling the tale. Much of the middle of the series was really about US politics, as boring as it was ridiculous. The entire population of the space-bound community numbers is supposedly less than 50,000 making for example a 'press corps' a little unlikely. It would have been much more interesting (and challenging) to explore how this traumatised, barely-surviving bundle of ... Read More:

I was bowled over by this series. I'd never seen it on TV until I bought it in Thailand (yes an offical copy too). The Thais love the series too right from my 60 year old Uncle to my 2 year old Daughter. This show could run for years.....

I admit first hearing about this i remember thinking that it was an X-Men Rip-off.
I'm So Glad that i finally realised that this isn't anything like X-Men.
First off - No Silly & Easily Noticable Costumes (with a huge H or the Helix Sign splattered on them) so they are ordinary people with extraordinary gifts.
Also Quite Possibly it has a Villain scarier than Darth Vader: Sylar.
the Villain remains as a thorn in the Heroes' Side throughout the First and Second Seasons and then takes his place as the lead Villian in Season 3.
I Must Say in closing that put these story's down into several 2-3 Hour Movies and these will be better than the three X-Men Films put together.
This ranks with Alien and Bladerunner. It's clever, funny, has believable characters and is well plotted. I can't believe ppl find it difficult.
It just gets better with each viewing.

after season 1's dissapointment comes season 2 which picks up a bit better, the crew encounter the kazon much more then previously encountered and masterminded by the vengeful cardassian woman, Seska whos cover was broken by Kes and the doctor in season 1. meanwhile exploration is put on back burner this season as it involves a bit more action which makes up for the ok or dire storyline. however the end episode of season 2 works out a great springboard to work off for season 3 to begin with a bang.
recommended in order to find out why the voyager crew was dumped on a primitive planet by the kazon, and what plans a few rogue crewmembers have in-store for the kazon on board voyager as well as outside.
