I just want to provide a bit of information that is missing from the product listing, which is of great interest to many people. That is, has the transfer of the Theatrical Editions been improved over the insult that was released last time? And the answer is a plain and simple "no". The Special Edition is the same fantastic transfer as we've had before (albeit with the same bizarre discolouration problems) and the Original Theatrical Editions are still not anamorphic. Why? I Am Legend has a few good points but loads of bad ones.
The acting is terrific, Will Smith is very talented. The storyline is very good too but it's just a shame they didn't manage to pull it off the way I thought they would. It was the zombies that really dissapointed me. Once they came out, it turned into some action-horror, making me forget how calm it was before-hand. I know that was the storyline but couldn't they reveal to us what the zombies looked like at in the ending? That way, I'd be a little more intrested of finding out what happened in the end. I think the nobleness of Will Smith's character ruined the ending. It would have been so much better if he got out of his house along with the woman and her child. I thought ... I never really got into the first season much although I did watch it. I thought it was medeocre all the way until the final 3 or 4 episodes and then I felt myself finally getting sucked in. Unfortuneatly, the second season is worse and it seems to be struggling for ideas.
What fans of Heroe's continually say, is that they prefer it's fast moving plot to that of the slower lost series. However, because Hereo's story develops so fast it seems to run out of suspense half way through the series. In this seconmd series, the story just doesnt get going at all. I didnt see this film at the cinema. It past me by and I went to see The Dark Knight instead.
But what a mistake I made! Its an awesome film! Perfectly cast is Robert Downey Jnr, who gets captured in the Middle East and forced at gunpoint to recreate one of his own companys defence missles. However, with the help of a fellow captive, he creates a metal armoured-suit and blasts his way out of his prision. Back in America, under the watchful eye of his boss and PA, he decides to re-create his design for defense purposes. But is his boss all who he seems to be? Be warned this film is hardly anything like the Spiderwick Chronicles books.My son and I have read all the Spiderwick Chronicles and we found this screen adaptation very disappointing. Where's the dwarves, elves, dragons , the palace of trash and the incident at the school where Jared first meets Mulgarath ? It seems to me that they tried to make the film as cheap as possible using mostly cgi, hence no dwarves and elves and tried to save money by using ,mainly one set (the house and the estate it's on). We also found the relationships of the characters had been changed. Why? There was nothing wrong with the supportive relationship between Jared, Simon and Mallory that they have in the books which you only see later on in the film.

Every so often a sequel comes along which is head and shoulders above the original. This proves the case.
Hellboy II is far superior to Hellboy. Better story, acting and far more laughs. Its a comic book story told the way comic book stories should be with action, great graphics, romance and humour. I love the ugly super-hero idea. Hellboy II doesn't disappoint and I bet you that after watching the film you too will be sing Barry Manilow songs. Enjoyable, mindless, and very funny. Downey Jr. was surprisingly brilliant. Little plot or real substance but who cares, just fun hokum and the best film I've seen for a while. Recommended.
