Apocolypse lovers, exit stage left; this really will not entertain you. This is a docu-drama, not a film, and the material is intended to shock, distress, and educate on the truth behind a full-scale nuclear war. No robots, no intelligent apes, and certainly no Morlocks. Seriously. Goodbye.
For anyone still here, this is the second of two infamous films produced by the BBC to give a more scientifically accurate account of what a nuclear war would actually mean to us, the populace (the first being 'The War Game'). Nightmare visions aside - and I have to say, my imagination expected more based on my prior reading on the subject, so it didn't do much to me - this is an ironically funny account of why surviving such a thing is ... The American 5 disc version is region-free, in fact all U.S Warner titles are region-free so don't bother with the U.K release and treat yourself to the 5 disc version instead. As previous reviewers have said the picture and sound quality is outstanding. This is a fabulous package, and as usual Ridley Scott has taken the same level of care and attention in putting this package together as he has with all his DVD releases. The three stars are for the U.K release - it's a pity Warners U.K felt the need to rush this one out instead of giving us the five disc version instead.

I would describe the first AvP as watchable. It has some reasonable acting with some good tension, and although the storyline was a bit weak, I would have given it 3 stars. This sequel, though, is downright awful. Just about everything that could be bad about a film was in this one. Poor acting, a weak plot and less effective tension than in Toy Story! I was bored throughout and just when you think the film's about to finally get exciting, it gets cut off with a disappointing anti-climax of an ending!
Don't waste your time and certainly not your money on this film. It's not worth the agony.

These movies are decent enough, but altogether infuriating for long term fans of the X-men. The director didn't seem to have any understanding of the characters and certainly not the fans. This is a lowbrow interpretation of what has for a long time been one of the most interesting and well-thought out comic book series.
Whoever was in charge of the casting should never be allowed to work in movies again; the feral-like short guy Wolverine was changed into a good looking actor who towered over the rest of the cast. Singer completely missed the importance of the physical attributes of the wolverine character- he is meant to be a grunt, a short guy who you underestimate. The makers of these movies simply decided to get a distinctly average actor ... Read More:

Genesis is of course the story of how the Daleks were created. It shouldn't disappoint because although there are some silly ideas in it e.g., at war for 1,000 years the Thals have only just thought of launching a big missile at the Kaleds, it has been made with such energy and panache that you can't help but be entertained.
Naturally there is a bit of padding at 6 episodes long, but you will rarely find it dragging.
Uncle Tom is in commanding form, being ready to switch off Davros' life support (and Tom plays it like he means it) 1 minute, & debating philosophically the next. He tries to divert Davros from his destructive course but his voice tells us he doesn't think it's going to work. there is some lovely underplayed emotion as he believes his ... Read More:

This wasn't a particularly amusing movie and I would say its strongest point was its special effects. The story lacked credibility and failed to draw me into the world the writers had tried to create. This was largely because Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith just didn't seem as scared of the aliens as I think people would be in real life ( particularly aliens this ugly and nasty)and there was no development of characters - their personalities were exactly the same at the end of the film as they were at the beginning.I'd heard a lot about Men In Black and I've gotta say that it is overrated and the 1980s film Ghostbusters with Bill Murray is funnier and way more interesting to watch.

I'm not sure why as it certainly dons't appeal to me but my son - just turned two - will sit and watch this constantly if you let him!
He finds it hilarious - he also has a blanket like Elmo and has taken to kissing it 'like Elmo' and can recite most of what Elmo says.
He had never watched Elmo before this but it still appeals.

Season 3 picks up the pace on Deep Space 9 and it's overall plot with the Dominion. (Andrew J. Robinson was the genius who brought the dominion into DS9 (Elim Garak)) The team discover the Shapeshifters on a rogue planet are the people who are the dominion. we get to see how the 2 ferengi on a planet of klingons works out, and a proper laugh (highly rated in my books as the most entertaining episode of them all).
later on we see more of the Marquis, O'brien and Bahshir becoming better friends and the ever entertaining Quark and Odo friendship (70% of why i bought ds9 in the first place).
Recommended to anyone who wants to know how the federation responds to the Dominion threat.
