Love this. I started watching it on iplayer and got hooked. It wasnt anything special, your average tv historical comedy slash mild drama, but whatever it was it worked for me. Now i cant wait for the next episode and would recommend it to anyone who likes to wind down on a saturday evening.

"Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship; but it is not this day! An hour of wolves, and shattered shields, when the Age of Men comes crashing down; but it is not this day! Today we fight! By all that you you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!"
this says it all (even in todays world but lets not go there). what books and what a movie all of them. cheers peter jackson.
lord of the rings
star wars
and then the rest.. miles miles behind.

as a reader of all the discworld books i have never liked the first two and after watching the film i still dont, the story such as it is, is to me too disjointed, but i couldnt fault the efforts of the actors especially David Jason, who as usual put his heart and soul into the role, there are much, much better discworld stories and i pray that they can be filmed, so summing up,it was a good effort but i still find the two books unreadable

I'm a fan of series like heroes (i enjoyed Smallville, Stargate etc) Although it was slow to start I felt it became better and better each week. The story helped to build the character's backgrounds, all of which were intriguing apart from the blonde woman with two personalities.
I feel my only problem with this series was it was building to something epic, and in the end it ended quite quickly.
Still a great series but it could have ended so much better. I feel the future series will only be better.

Some people complain that "this is only half of season 4" and then rather naively say that they will wait to buy the whole season 4.
Let's make this clear now: there will not be a 'complete season 4' boxset. The first half of the american season 4 is released in DVD as "season 4.0" in the US and "season 4" in the UK. Then, the last 10 episodes will be released as "Season 4.5" in the US and "Season 5" in the UK.
So buy this set without fear, you'll need to buy both sets "season 4" and "season 5" anyways.
After "season 5" is released, the only combination offered will be the whole "seasons 1 to 5" box set that will cost a lot more money.

After reading the mixed reviews on here, I wasn't expecting all that much from this latest Futurama movie (why is it that we're always more liable to believe the bad reviews than the good?!). I enjoyed Bender's Big Score but was mildly disappointed by The Beast with a Billion Backs...so was a little concerned that this would be another disappointment. How wrong I was! People can moan all they like, but the bottom line is that this is definitely the most entertaining and FUNNIEST Futurama film yet. I laughed more at this than the first two put together. It's a gag a minute with some delicious parodies of Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons-type fantasy worlds. This one has definite potential for re-watching and, unlike the Beast with a Billion Backs, I look forward ... Read More:

Out of all the of the christmas films that I have seen over the years, this is the one that stands head and shoulders above the rest! Ok, the acting of the little lad that plays Joe leaves something to be desired, but if you put this aside and just watch the film for shear enjoyment and getting in that festive mood, then you too will get wrapped up in that magic tingly feelling that this film evokes.
I remember watching this film as a little girl and I still get the same feeling it gave when I was about 10. I have now bought it for my 2 year old and he justs loves it - its a fantastic way to introduce children to the magic of Santa, elves, reindeer and the magic of christmas if you just believe. Go on - give it a go - you will not be disappointed!

I completely diasagree with the first two reviewers as well. I went to see this when it was out in the cinema (small local cinema - who only intended to show it for one night) - the place was sold out and they ended up putting it on for weeks instead.
I thought this movie was very cleverly done, Will Smith portrayed the character very well, and the tongue in cheek approach used here worked very well. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and was frequently laughing out loud.
I didn't know what to expect going to see this but I'm glad I did and think most people will find it very enjoyable.
