series 1 started off everything(makes sense)but seriously if it weren't for the success of this series then the show wouldn't have survived...thanks to the amazing writers and crew behind it and some fab actors.
eppy guide-
Rose-4/5-the start...and what a great start it is too...Billie Piper CAN act as the great Rose Tyler and the Autons are very creepy.
The end of the world-4/5-very good all round episode tht boasts some amazing visuals.
the unquiet dead-4/5-very scary episode with some terrifying zombies...and the doctor meets Charles Dickens.
Aliens of London-2/5-a decent episode but not fantastical...contains the infamous big ben crash scene...but not much else.

I was really excited as I put this into my DVD player because winter is really drawing in now and I was looking forward to getting a nice warm polo neck with a pretty pattern to go with my new scarf and mittens. What I got instead though was a thin slice of banality.
Jumper has an excellent tag line: Unpopular youth, played by Hayden Christensen, discovers he can instantaneously teleport to anywhere he wants (the 'jumping' of the title') and decides to use this esoteric skill to rob banks. But the reality of the execution though was something of a let down.
Sure it starts off ok. We see the main character some time after his initial discovery having created a good bit of wealth and living the high life. He is then discovered like a grubby ... Read More:

Merlin is an innovative, spellbinding new television series, which draws its audience in to a world full of intrigue and magic right from the start. The episodes are original, exciting and with some excellent yet not over-used effects, and compelling characters.
The actors are extremely well-cast bringing the series to life, whilst its combination of Robin Hood/Dr Who style excitement and well developed plots (with magic as prominent here as Robin Hoods' archery skills and the Doctors' Time Lord science), this new series is a real treat to watch.
Whether you are a younger viewer or over 18, there is something for everyone in 'Merlin', with its exciting, new interpretation of the legend. Some recognizable names give tantalizing clues as to the ... Read More:

After the end of Season 1, I found the first two episodes of Season 2 to be a bit boring, but by the third episode it kicks off really well. If you havent seen it you are in for a treat, without giving anything away, I thought that the best episodes were "the other 48 days" and "Dave". Can't wait to see what season 3 will be like :)

I missed the entire Battlestar Glactica oeuvre when it came out (indeed the original series as well) but read so many reviews about the allegorical sophistication of BG, I thought I'd better check it out. The obvious place to start is the 2004 mini-series, assembled on DVD as a three-hour feature (and selling for less than four quid on Amazon as I write). Aficionados claim the series doesn't get into its stride until later, but this was for me an impressive opener. The human species is attacked by the Cylons, a robot-race that comes in two distinctive designs; toaster-on-legs and hot, hot humanoid. Thanks to some sexy treachery involving the latter, the human defences are annihilated leaving a rag-bag of refugee vessels, clustered round the eponymous `Battlestar' a sort of ageing aircraft-carrier ... The American 6 disc version has the following soundtracks:
English-Portuguese-Spanish-Italian-French.
Subtitles:
English-French-Spanish-Dutch(lucky me)-Italian-Portuguese.
The 3-disc UK version has English sound & subtitling only.
Thought I'd let you know, as I know that many Croatians are good at Italian!
If not, don't fret, I'm sure there'll be a multi language Euro version next year...

This is one of those dvds you can get out any time of year over and over again and it still appeals. Who would have thought combining a witch, a doctor and WWII would create such wonder.
The characters created by Angela Lansbury (Miss Price the good witch) and David Thomlinson (Dr Amelius Brown)are wonderful and the combination of settings, singing, dancing and animation are very well balanced. Our whole family love this film.
