This series is full of passion, drama and humour. All of the actors are great, and I especially like Hattie Morahan as Elinor. In a very convincing way she manages to portrait Elinor as a warm, intelligent woman with strong feelings underneath her restrained surface.
I just love it!

Almost finished series 3. 3 episodes to go but I'm really losing the will to live.
For me they've broken the 1st commandment of entertainment: Dont be boring.
The major plot: Galactica and co are trying to find Earth whilst being chased by the Cylons.
The sub plot: Baltar and No.6
Everything else: Sub-sub plots.
How much time is spent on the major plot line? about 20 mins.
How much time is spent on the sub plot? 10 mins?
About 20 episodes take up the completely boring sub-sub plots. Do we need 3 weeks of Apollo fancies Starbuck? If people want to watch marriage breakdowns and adulterous affairs they can watch Eastenders can't they? I dont watch BSG for that!
Everything that's supposed ... Read More:

I would have wrote a review about the series and how good/bad it is but unfortunately, after taking off the packaging and opening the box, the disk wasn't in there.
Good going Amazon and whoever they get their stock from.

By and large, the episodes in this DVD are pretty faithful to the Conan Doyle originals. Jeremy Brett is superbly eccentric as the superbly eccentric Holmes, and both Watsons play Watson as an intelligent man whom Holmes would be glad to have by his side. Only in the last couple of series does the quality start to deteriorate. Interestingly, despite Brett's well documented health problems, it isn't Brett's performance that deteriorates. Rather the film makers were obviously trying to be edgy (much like the modern day Poirot adaptations), and the quality of the adaptations has suffered as a result. The Last Vampyre, for example, is atrocious twaddle. But there are still some good moments even in the last few episodes, such as The Dying Detective.
Depending on when you were born, The Clangers dvd is either going to be 5-star knockout brilliant, or minus-several-million-stars 'what the heck is this?' rubbish.
There's just a chance that if you didn't grow up following the antics of these animated characters then you might still be captured by the innocent delight of knitted pink mousey things which live on a blue moon and hide under saucepan lids. However, I suspect that it's one of those cultural moments which might pass later generations by, so if you haven't seen The Clangers before then you should rent rather than buy, just to see if your sense of humour stretches to blue string pudding and the Soup Dragon.
But if you remember The Clangers with fondness then I have no idea why you're even bothering to read this review. ... Read More:

Maybe I'm missing the gene enabling me to enjoy this show, but frankly I find it dull. Given the reviews and recommendations I tried watching through 3 episodes from the first series.
It struck me I couldn't on reflection recall when one ended and another started. The characters were forgettable and the plots far fetched to say the least. The most significant failing however seems to be the same formula that is used for each episode. Even after watching a few it was painfully obvious what was going to happen thereafter and I couldn't stomach watching anymore.
Shame really, I quite like Hugh Laurie otherwise.
Like I said, I'm sure others will love it. For me this falls into the same bin as that other unfathomably popular tripe - Lost.
