having found the christmas special and New Earth reasonably enjoyable,i decided that series 1 couldn't be beaten...i was totally wrong...David Tennant is the greatest doctor of them all,and he just kept improving throughout this series.
these are without a doubt the greatest episodes in series 2,and i even prefer these to the finale(Doomsday).
Tooth & Claw-a genuinly rewarding experience,Russel T.Davies has written a mini-horror film, and unlike the movies this werewolf is very scary and artistic to look at...i personally feel that this is the best episode he wrote of series 2 as it combines the humour, stunts and scares needed in an episode of Doctor Who,and Rose isn't all lovy dovy with the Doc in this episode(thank god!!!)but ... The second story in Jon Pertwee's final season as The Doctor sees The Timelord, along with assistant Jo Grant, receive a replacement 'dimensional stabilizer' for his TARDIS from The Timelords as a thankyou for his defeat of Omega in The Three Doctors. This enables him to finally leave Earth and UNIT behind and explore the cosmos once more. It is good to see the production team rise to the challenge of a different scenario from the Earthbound adventures that had made up the majority of the Third Doctor's tenure. The story is a self-contained gem; The TARDIS arrives aboard what seems to be a cargo cruiser on the Indian Ocean in 1926 however they soon discover that they are in fact inside an intergalactic 'mini-scope', used by a pair of travelling entertainers ... I have played a lot of these so called DVD games in the past and i was very annoyed by the lag and/or poor production values. So tentiveley i rented Red dwarf beat the geek as i didn't want to splash out. Apprenhensively i loaded it in my dvd player. The first thing that hits me is the production values. Being my favourite tv show i still didn't think they could of made a playable dvd, but this is it. The loading times are next to nill the range of questions for both red dwarf fan red dwarf geek and general knowledge are even, and its a genuine delite to play. The only criticism is the comments from the holly's get a bit repetitive after a few plays through however only so much can be recorded definitley one for all fans of the red dwarf and one for you non fans as ... ... and the irony was, for years after the very last broadcast of the old series in the 1980's, it was certain that the most anticipated thing was indeed the next Doctor, and the next season. And we waited and waited.
If we had known what was going to actually happen, we would have all gone collectively insane. How many years?
Several instances of breaking news occurred in that long interval. Always disappointing; time and time again there was news of a revival; the final clincher, so we thought, was the announcement that a particular and unnamed BBC boss assured everybody that the series was all but buried - that on his watch it would never again arise in any form.
But by the time we got to that point, in a bizarre but predictable development, ... Read More:

"Doctor Who" is a show with a unique format that enables us to enjoy classics like the "The Three Doctors"- can you name another show that has survived so many different portrayals of its central character by so many different actors?
"The Three Doctors" is a ripping yarn about the Timelords uniting the 3 incarnations of the Doctor to solve a a potentially cataclysmic situation caused by an attack on our universe from beyond a black hole. Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee deliver great performances and the central villain Omega is a great foe for them. Okay, this story is really just a chance for fans to indulge in nostalgia but remember: video recording was rare in that era and repeats and novelisations where the only normal route to enjoy "Who" again.
Buy this for the excellent 2 parter Impossible Planet & Satan Pit. At last we see the Doctor on another planet with a fantastic story line. Excellent choice of villain - similarity to Pyramids of Mars with the same actor doing the voice of Sutekh / the Beast(excellent Gabriel Woolf). This has elements of Resident Evil / Alien etc and is the best Tennant Adventure to date.
The paradox is 'Love & Monsters' which is awful. A good idea but it really doesn't work within DW. I watched 10 minutes of this before switching off. It's psuedo reality TV which is just as brain numbing and plain boring as the real thing

I never saw this adventure when it was on telly. And due to very poor quality DVD's I've still not seen it. I've now had four copies of this series from Amazon and other suppliers, and all of the discs have a fault which means thay can't play past chapter 2 of the first episode. And it's not just my DVD player, I've tried each disc on three players, and none of them work. Conclusion - there is a fault with this series that makes it unplayable.

I'm afraid that this is really not the best of Robert Holmes, Colin Baker, Patrick Trougton or JNT stories in general. There is a lot to enjoy, Patrick Troughton is always good, and whether you agree with me or not, so's Colin B, but this is a padded story that is less than a work of genius.
It might have been a lot better over 2x45 minute episodes instead of 3. The 1st episode is the most padded as Troughton and Jamie go to a space station and then after an argument, Jamie escapes while Troughton's Doctor is captured and the Androgums and Sontarans set up shop in 20th Century Spain(it must be for the views!).
Colin Baker's Doctor and Peri, fish, argue, look for the name of a good Doctor, argue and then wander about a space station.
And all of this takes 45 minutes.
Colin and Patrick Troughton ... Read More:

This is probably the weakest set of episodes of the new, revived show's first season. A pity given that they conclude the series.
Boom Town is the "time out" episode, before we rush headlong to the finale. Any reservations anyone may have about the Slitheen should be allayed by Annette Badlands's excellent performance as the alien in the skin suit. The centrepiece of the episode is essentially a set of two-handed scenes between Eccleston's Doctor and Badlands's Margaret and this kind of thing is what the license fee is for. It's a pity she has to be an evil alien monster intent on destroying the earth for profit - the restaurant scenes represent an acting masterclass from two of the industry's finest professionals.
Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways give us our finale... And it all unfortunately ... Read More:

When a series has gone on for as long as Stargate SG-1 has it generally starts to loose its way and devolve into mediocrity but thankfully it appears that this series has bucked this trend. The twenty-one episodes in this eighth series of the Stargate are, if anything, better than the vast majority of the episodes from the previous seasons. Season eight sees the return of the Replicators, O'Neill's promotion, the continuing search for Ancient technology, the Jaffa rebellion reaches its climax and much more.
This season of Stargate SG-1 has been one of my favourite to date with the only real bad episode being the clip-show `Citizen Joe' but even that is a cut above some other clip-shows I have seen. The writing is competent throughout and the performances by the cast are good and you do feel that they are comfortable ... Read More:
