I have now bought 3 of these, one for myself and two for the business I work for. The question of what can it do- the answer is practically everything you could want from a camera. I paid £39.99 for mine.
What's in the box - The camera, rechargeable battery, remote control, camera pouch, USB cable, AV cable, earbuds, foam earbud covers, CD (Drivers, editing software) quickstart guide, owners Manual, warrantee.
You will need to purchase a 2 GB SD card. The cameras on board memory is minimal, just over a minute video, the card gives you ove 1200 still or 1 hour 30 minutes high quality MPEG 4 video. Cost me £3.50 each.
The camera quality is very good. You turn it on by opening the LCD screen and off ... Read More:

Just bought a Sony HC53E Camcorder. Very annoyingly my old, identical looking, same 7.2v, Sony NP-FP Camcorder batteries from my previous defunct model [Sony HC22E] don't fit this new HC53E camcorder though, thanks to a few mm more plastic on the base lugs and Sony's new [anti-copying] info-lithium chip. Trim the old NP-FPs to fit in the HC-53Es NP-FH slot and the camera says 'incompatible battery' - i.e. it's got an old style info-chip, even though it is a Sony battery of the right shape, voltage and power. So I had to buy one of these `genuine' Sony NP-FH50 as a spare battery [it's the same physical size as the NP-FH30 supplied with the camera, but with a tad more power reserve].
First thing that struck me about this battery was its weight - the original lumix battery weighs 24 grams this one weighs 16 grams: fits perfectly, seems to work fine, after 15 minutes continuous video recording the batt indicator on my DMC-TZ5 had gone down one bar, two thirds the weight - lasts about two thirds the time of the original, for the price a good backup battery.

Its a fantastic battery, but thats all its is - a battery. It can be found elsewhere from as low as £5, so I wouldn't advise shelling out 8x to replace it.

Though this is quite expensive, I purchased it to go with my Sony - DCR-SR35 Camcorder. Fully charged, this battery gives over 700 minutes of recording/playback. This is great for holidays - meant that I didn't have to recharge it once over a 2 week trip.

Not much you can say about a power cell unless you discover your purchase is a dud.
What you want to know is that this performs every bit as well as the "real" thing. I am running a 350D set up and this drives the shutter, motor function (sport mode) as well as integral flash (rarely used apart from this test) easily. My testing used AF just to increase the drain, handled with consummate ease. Recharge cycle in sport mode is excellent and will allow shooting up to the max frames per second spec of the body
Hooked to the mains charges to full in under an hour approx same time as my original. Capacity easy enough to match the originals shooting capacity in RAW mode. I have now recharged sufficently to note there are no "memory" or "dry out" effects ... Read More:

This lens has quality written all over it. It comes with a hard plastic hood for the front and back of the lens which then goes into a sturdy, cloth, draw-string bag for extra protection. When you screw the lens on to your camcorder the difference is very impressive. You get far more of your subject and the surroundings into view; this is especially true for indoor filming when you want to get as much of the room into your shot. When added to the camcorder the difference in the weight and feel is negligible, I certainly have no problems in that respect. It's best to hold your camcorder in a perpendicular stance when attaching the lens, and then to gently rotate the lens into the thread of the camcorder until you feel it lock. There is no need to tighten it as you ... Read More:
