I suppose this does what it's supposed to. I do get annoyed when it says 'right turn ahead', because what I actually *hear*, is 'turn right'. OK, so that's my problem :/
However, the bigger problem is when I tried to install updates. OMG! Nightmare. The whole system crashed, and it's a real good job I had done a backup first or it would have been a case of having to return it.
Even then, trying to get support to get the thing to work again was a task in itself.
Also had a problem with suddenly not being able to search by postcode, and had to download a zip file to fix it.
This is not my best friend.

Garmin Forerunner 205 - GA52I have had mine for a week and have found it is fantastic. I have run 5 marathons, countless half-marathons and now, at the age of 78, I walk some 130 miles a month. How I wish I had had this when training for my marathons. Read the blurb and you will see only a small proportion of what it can do. Three screens, each of which can have a variable number of panels. The display is really clear, even to my aging eyes. My only complaint is that the manual could be clearer and fuller. But if you are computer literate, there should not be any difficulty.

i've recently bought a navman s50. i've found it to be reliable and very simple to use. i've not yet read the instruction manual and in all honesty there isn't much need for one. the sat nav itself calculated routes quickly and if you manage to take the wrong turn it redirects you with ease. the built in bluetooth handsfree set is great, no need to clutter your car with electronics. all in all a quality piece of kit for the price.

I've had a garmin car sat nav for some years and have found it very accurate when driving around the country and reliable. After having it stolen(gutted), I researched other makes and prices to replace the nuvi205 but wanted this time a nav with traffic and no subscriptions (tom tom new live versions upto £10 month) and a brand that is not likely to go bump in the near future, i'd never heard of garmin a few years ago but is a well known in the professional trades/services. The garmin is a steardy well made bit of kit, does what it say's with a few options which i'm not interested in, the traffic information is I believe a well proven source of info (blue looking camaras on bridges) Rac supplied a device free years ago which worked well from the same source. There were ... Read More:

Bought this unit in June this year and though I am very happy with the actual satnav, I was very disappointed with the maps. I live in Cornwall and maybe they just haven't bothered to come down here. To have B roads inaccurate is disappointing but there are a number of major A road errors on the map - roads that have been open for over twelve months. Having had the unit for just a few months they now tell me that my maps are out of date and they want £196 for me to update them! I wonder if the new ones have corrected the errors? I am tempted to change the unit but don't use it regularly enough to make it worthwhile. It's a shame because the interface and the system is very good...

After much research on the web, including reading Amazon reviews, I opted for this unit against other contenders from Tom Tom and Navman. I have so far been extremely happy with it. I haven't experienced any slow start-ups as some have reported. Bluetooth works perfectly with a range of phones (probably because it's Parrot based). There is good support from Garmin and updating via the web is a breeze. You can also find things like free POI files on the web. The range of features is impressive, although the map isn't current with a local section of the A428 that has been turned into a dual-carriageway in the last year or two. It's useful to know that the unit comes with a protetcive case, the power-cable/traffic aerial, a windscreen swivel suction mount and a dashboard disc. The ... Read More:

As many of the other reviews say the 920T is feature rich and many of them work very well. The satellite lock on is excellent, I've used the Navigation very successfully in UK and USA cities. It has flaws though, the menus are clunky, I've never found how to set speed preferences and as with most Sat Navs it can bizarrely recommend local routes several miles longer than the ideal.
What really annoys me is it's advertised as covering Europe - it doesn't. Well not unless Europe has suddenly lost Greece. Tom Tom won't even sell you an add on map for Greece (it doesn't do Malta either). So if you're off to Greece and counting on a Tom Tom to help you navigate - right now best forget it.
