This is almost a waste of money. I bought this to control video use remotely, but there are a few major tasks you can't do remotely. You can't select between music and video, you can't move through the menus and you can't start a video with the remote control (pressing Play after manually selecting the video to watch causes the first song listed to start playing, and NOT start playing the selected video file).
The things you can do remotely for watching video, is: adjust the iPod volume up and down (your TV will do this with its own remote control), fast forward and reverse, pause/resume, stop, turn iPod on and off. I've been using my Jornadas for years now and been quite happy with them, so you can imagine how wonderful it was to find this PDA for 140 quid from a seller on Amazon.
Upgrading from a Jornada 928 was really a leap so you might be thinking that I'd think any of the new PDAs were brilliant. But, I have to say, this has all the features you could possible want for email, internet browsing (even though the mobile version is more limited than the PC version). Browsing is quick - pictures and text are loaded quickly from internet sites. You can use it for eBay. I originally bought this product to boost the signal into another room for a friend using a Zoom ADSL X6 router. Having read the reviews, I practiced by setting it up on my network first, using a Linksys router, as I expected there to be some problems and effort involved to resolve them.
For configuration, forget the automatic setup button and the manual, use the direct ethernet connection on the 192 subnet method and configure via the web interface (as described by other users). This is not intuitive but is not hard either. This even worked using Windows Vista for me. I have been using a PDA of some kind for at least 12 years but it is now a dying product. The bottom line is that the IPAQ 214 offers no significant computing advantages over my 3 year old O2 XDA II Smartphone. I have also found that because PDAs are getting less support from the manufacturers I have had problems in getting accessories such as extra stylus pens. Having said this, after a few months use it has worked fine with no need to reset as yet. My only negative comment is that it feels quite delicate in construction and that it would break if dropped (as opposed to my O2 XDA that is built like a tank).

I'm afraid some reviewers have missed the point with this device, ok, if you can reach the switches easily, then that isn't a problem, but for so many of us having all the wiring, sockets etc tucked out of the way like mine, then this is a godsend!
Turn your PC on and 5 seconds later all the peripherals are on, no problem. I'm definately getting one for the TV etc next. Hope this is of some use. >>More Details |

Bought this as Belkin appear to be reputable brand. Whilst not an expert, I am reasonably PC literate and have set up wireless networks (successfully) before. I installed it as per instructions. It went like a dream and I was on the internet in minutes. That night I switch off PC. Next day, switch on - no wireless connection. Try to open Belkin software and it tells me to connect the adapter 1st - it is already connected! No matter what, software won't open and cannot get a connection. Tried various things, including uninstalling and starting from scratch, but no joy. It's going back for a refund tomorrow.

Admittedly, I bought these batteries to go into my Xbox 360 Elite pad as I do have a charger but thought that I could use these for my 2nd pad. Recieved them not too long ago & they don't seem to fit into the battery pack as well as they should. I have 4 individual cuts on my hands from trying to get them out the battery pack which took about literally 20 mins, I do hope they'll become much easier to get out as time goes by. But I have problems understanding why they fit more snugly than they really should.
Update: Got the batteries to come out (slightly) easier. However, one of them takes ages to recharge once I started charging it at 2 in the afternoon & it finished at about 12.30 at night! Brilliant product - tried hard to find a handsfree for my car for my iphone - someone recommended this and I couldn't have chosen better. Worked straight away paired automatically, provides spoken alerts, such as incoming call from number ******, etc. Can use FM transmitter to play itunes and callers voice through your car stereo, which I have heard is good but I haven't used this as my car is ipod prepared and to be honest the sound quality of the speaker on the unit allows me to hear the voice on the phone wonderfully, better than the Nokia or Sony Erricson sets I have used previously. People also say I am very easy to hear at the other end too, with no echos or background noise. Brilliant product, that I would recommend to anyone, it was cheapest here on Amazon too.
