I bought this printer as a Epsom replacement, However I did have problems setting it up as the references were not clear. However, my son managed to complete the task and it all works, so I am very pleased. It is much better than a man as it can multitask, but it is evident that a man wrote the instructions. Perhaps Epsom could employ someone with no IT skills to write their manuals and test them. On the important note, the printer/fax/scanner is fast and efficient and would strongly recommend this product.

I've always used Epsom printers in the past (about 5 of them all told) but read a review of the Canon Pixma 610 about a year ago in a computer mag and was impressed. When my Epsom R200 packed up, co-incidentally the same computer mag was reviewing two new Canon printers, but repeatedly remarked that they were fine, but get hold of a Pixma 610 for the best possible repro of photographs. I did, I'm delighted with the results - a superb machine. Incidentally, I've never been able to produce a true black and white print, but by COPYING onto photographic paper the one I can produce (complete with colour cast) the result is crystal black and white.

I purchased this printer to replace my HP3310 which was of a similar spec, but just wasn't producing good enough photo prints after 3 years of (good) service. I have only ever owned HP printers, so changing to Epson was quite a big deal for me. At around £250, it isn't cheap either considering you can get a wireless enabled printer for less than £100 these days.
Firstly, this printer is aesthetically very pleasing to look at and compact in its nature, with no odd parts sticking out here or there. It has a big touch panel display, which is very intuitive to use. Note however that when viewing your photos and scans on the display, it will only use up the middle portion. Still big though. It has 2 paper trays, one for A4 size paper and the other for ... Read More:

This printer is very nice. A very good scanning and copying function, with a very thorough set-up process. The printer is very quick and efficient with good ease of use with just the press of a button. The printer also has a fax function but I have never bothered to set that up. The only problem I do have with it though is that it uses quite a bit of ink, and the ink isn't cheap. For the price it is at now is very reasonable; it is of very good build, and looks expensive. The unit itself though is quite large and takes up a bit of room. It does also need a USB cable but they are a few pounds also on amazon!

I bought the printer mainly to scan negatives and to print them.
I use both Windows and Mac with a USB connection to the printer.
Even if not entirely satisfied I would buy this product again.
PROS:
- very good scanning quality (of negatives and slides, good speed, rendering of colours, shadows, etc.);
- the print quality is comparable to the one of Boots;
- silent and relatively fast;
- broad range of print/scanning options (I did not try the OCR, yet).
CONS:
- the USB cable is not included;
- on Windows the software requires 800MB and on Mac 480MB. The scan a colour negative at the maximum resolution produces a file of about 20MB. My windows machine has 512MB of RAM and they are not enough ... Read More:

This is a good machine, it took me half an hour to install from opening the box, there are seperate ink cartridges for each colour too which is great for maintenance ... i have had a blank and 'coloured' cartridge before and the colour ones are so expensive, even if you have only used 1 colour ... a really good idea ... you cant beat this for a deal ... multi-functional devices like this in the main stores start at £50 and dont have a multi-feed device on them which means feeding in large documents one by one ... pain ... i would certainly recommend this printer ...

I bought one of these (from another supplier) principally for scanning slides, which it claims to be able to do to a high resolution. However, default settings produced slides with a soft, out of focus look, very poor colour balance and appalling resolution. Adjuting the settings to increase the resolution (even to a still fairly low 2400dpi compared to a stated maximum of 9600dpi) produced out of memory errors on a computer with 2GB RAM. The whole thing is painfully slow and the software crashed.
Document scanning might be fine - I didn't try it so this review only pertains to its capabilities scanning slides, which was what I bought it for.
Fortunately I have been able to get a refund.
