I bought this iPod to replace a broken 4GB nano which i also had too much music for. I was stuck between this model and a 16Gb new nano.In the end i decided on this for several reasons. Firstly it has a huge hard drive 120Gb will let you put pretty much everything you own there. I have 1800 songs, about 20 dvds and serveral other music videos and youtude downloads. It still has 88GBs left. Also it is better value for money than the nano. This costs abbout £20 more than a 16GB Nano and gives you just under 10x the storage space. If you want a iPod more as a functional item rather than a fashion accessory then buy one of these. Otherwise buy a nano they are also very good and well put together bits of kit as are all iPods. I'd always bought smaller, low capacity mp3 players and decided I needed something a little bigger. I went and bought this iPod, as I was told I wouldn't need the 160GB version.
It is one of the best things I have bought. Currently it contains 5242 songs (200 of which are half hour radio shows), 15 videos (but has previosuly held around 100 with space for music) and 213 podcasts. I also have 31 audiobooks, and I still have 31.5Gb spare. It is really easy to find a certain album or track to listen to, and the screen is excellent for viewing videos. The only problems I have had so far are that iTunes can be a bit tempermental with ID3 tags, and once or twice the iPod has frozen on me, but that is easily reset. The iPod itself ... i had an old, small memory, broken ipod that needed replacing, and was very happy and grateful when i received this silver classic 80gb apple ipod as a gift. its fantastic ! i transferred all my music collection on to it, which is currently a few thousand songs, and i still have room for many thousands more ! the memory size of the ipod is enormous, should be adequate for me for many years, i will probably wear it out before i fill it up ! im a happy girl, proud owner of this item, i reommend it.

So far, so good. I've owned my I-pod 160GB for about a week, so it's still early days. My needs are simple. I want my whole music collection (which is some 20,000 songs I guess)on one portable device. So far, I've crammed about 2,000 tunes on to it and the capacity bar shows that there's still a long way to go before I fill the thing up. I'm immensely impressed with the amount of space that this i-pod has.
A few points - the volume is more than adequate! It's far louder than my Nano. I agree that the sound can be a little bright, although this can be counteracted with the EQ settings. This is the third Apple Ipod that I have purchased having previously bought a 4th Gen 20gig Ipod and a 2nd Gen Shuffle for the gym. Admittedly my 20gig Ipod is still going strong but with my ever increasing music collection there was no way I could fit it all on it. That is why I purchased the 160gig Ipod classic, it would allow me to listen to music as well as watch movies.
It has been almost a year since I purchased it and as yet I have not had not any problems with apart from it sometimes being slow to respond when browsing through the menu. However this is not a really big problem and may due to the fact that it is nearly full.
