I had one of these delivered yesterday, and am finding it quick, light, quiet and very easy to use. It found my wireless network within seconds of booting up and logged on first time. I have also used it around the house and had no problem when I am away from the router.
Was slightly worried I wouldn't be able to touch type on it, but am having no problems. Also the screen is large enough and bright enough to allow my 40+ eyes to read it easily!
Overall a sexy little machine which is doing exactly what I want it to and which I am looking forward to being able to take out and about, given that I can carry it easily in one hand.
Recommended for anyone looking for real mobile computing power.

I'd been searching for a long time for a good value notebook to supplement my home-office PC. Finally I plumped for this little gem and I've not been disappointed. The battery life seems adequate and it loads in double quick time. Whilst the screen size is small you get used to it quickly enough, after all if you want a larger screen you need to think of getting a much more expensive and bulkier laptop. This is exactly what it purports to be, a light-weight, easy to use, inexpensive tool.
Don't expect it to match a full size laptop it won't and if you need to run additional software then you'll need to add an external dvd/cd drive.
Downsides if there are any - I touch type and it's taken me ages to adjust to the right-hand shift ... Read More:

For those old timers amongst us who have wrestled with laptops overheating, dead pixels, and cantankerous operating system, the ASUS is a breath of fresh air.
To say that it is perfect would not be understating it. I use mine for a lot of DVD watching and am perpetually amazed at the high screen quality - better than my flat screen TV and desktop PC !
When I need to type, I find the keyboard adequate, and very manageable given the overall size of the product.
Browsing is a breeze - the WiFi is great - very good reception and quick too.
I have attached a sleek shiny white USB disk drive to it to add to the storage capacity (320Gb) and now have more than I'll ever fill up in this lefetime.
I've watched the growing popularity of the netbook for a while and finally in a position to need a laptop, I plumped for the 901. After numerous courier mishaps I finally laid hands upon it and it's a marvellous piece of kit.
The display is crisp and sharp, good for browsing the web and IM conversations, as well as typing up documents and emails. The smaller keyboard may be a hinderance to a few but after a bit of practice your fingers will be dancing like on a regular keyboard. The mouse trackpad is quite responsive and supports multitouch gestures, handy for scrolling webpages one handed.
The nifty new Intel Atom processor has made short work of everything I've thrown it from imaging apps to processing video from the onboard camera, ... Read More:

Good
Ultra compact & cool - Everybody who has seen it has commented!
Fast - 1GB of RAM seems to be perfectly OK - Copes well with the programs you would realistically want to run. Mega quick start up & shut down.
Keyboard - perfectly OK with keys are obviously small but I only type with two fingers so it doesn't really bother me
Battery life - I regularly get 6 hrs+ on a full charge
Forums - There is an incredible amount of info on every conceivable question you may have about EeePcs on the web - They seem to have a cult following
Bad
No CD/DVD drive - If you haven't got an external one it's a real pain to restore without it (you have to create a windows bootable flash drive from the ... Read More:

It may sound obvious but your happiness with the Asus eeePC is likely to depend on why you want it and how you are going to use it.
I run my own company and travel a lot - so I need to keep in touch with customers. I used to carry a full size laptop - but the weight! (Have you noticed none of the product specs include the power 'brick' weight?) Now with my eeePC it is a dream - the weight/battery life ratio is brilliant and it is dead easy to pick up an Internet connection almost everywhere. My main use apart from web access is to use LogMeIn to access my office systems and get at Outlook for email, customer records and business applications such as ACT! on the office system so I don't need a lot of disk memory and the lack of a CD isn't an issue. When I'm ... Read More:

This is a neat, beautifully designed netbook which should be perfect for travelling and light business use. The battery life is fantastic (over 6 hours) and it identifies available wireless points easily.
BUT ... I have just returned my second Linux machine for the same reason - the "automatic" updating system does not work. It churns the hard disk while stating "downloading updates" but the progress bar stays stubbornly at "0% downloaded". You can't kill the process in settings and have to switch off. Even after switching off automatic updates and doing it manually you get the same problem. Try googling "eee 901 update problem" and you will see that this is a major issue. Asus need to fix this.
I would not recommend that anyone buy the Linux version at present ... Read More:

Just bought the EEE PC904 HD in white. What a fantastic device! I was looking for something to replace my old Psion organiser (mini pc style) which died a while back. I had software to sync this with windows and it was useful to carry around my dates, schedules, word and excel files. I looked at several PDAs but came around to the idea of a netbook style PC.
For compatibility with windows, I went for the ASUS EEE PC904 with 80G hard drive. It comes with Win XP home and MS Works preloaded. It has anti virrus pre-installed, a web cam and mic array with a mini web video creation package. Win XP was at SP3 level but I have updated the IE browser to V.7. plus other win updates are rolling in.
The device also has 3 USB ports, headphone and mic sockets, VGA, Ethernet ... Read More:

Have to say this netbook did everything it was labeled to do. Opened the box, plugged in and all working perfectly in 5 minutes flat... and a fast PC!
Even started to use plugged into an external keyboard, mouse, and screen as a Linux web development machine. Faster and easier than my £3,500 conventional monster PC.
