I also bought this to use with an eee PC - a 901 running Ubuntu-eee - and it works perfectly. I've set up the 901 so VLC starts automatically when a DVD is inserted, and all the DVDs I've tried play at full-screen with no stuttering or dropped frames. It also seems happy getting power from the USB port with no need to use the separate power supply that comes with it. The build quality is reasonable although not particularly rugged.
I would recommend this device for any laptop or netbook that doesn't have a built-in CD/DVD drive. Note that it reads and writes to CD, but is read-only with DVDs. >>More Details |

good product, excellent service from decrescent (£2.79 incl postage). unfortunately doesn't work with g4 ipods. not clear in write up, you have to go into technical details. kept it because we have g2 & g3 ipods in the house.

The product works great with Linux but the supplied windows drivers are dire. To get all the features in Vista you will need to buy the upgraded drivers. Does not work with Sony Ericsson software. Have wasted an evening trying to get this to work in Vista with no joy. Product is not flush but is solid and well made. For the size, it performs well(under linux at least). I will eventually get the drivers in Vista working, feel cheated though.

i was a bit standofish when i was looking at this hard disk for my soon-to-be computer. however i was extremely pleased when it turned out that it all just ran completely smoothly i have had no trouble with this product for all the time i have had it. it is also, just adding a cherry to the cake, extremely quite which is great when your in-game and you are listening to all the beautiful sound effects
