The clarity and close focus of these superbly made little binoculars is breath taking, I can sit in my garden or conservatory and perfectly watch tiny little insects crawl and feed in great close-up detail. I recently used them at a local air display and they performed wonderfully even though they are only 6.5x21. I keep them close by me at all times they are light easy to carry and use and an absolute joy to own.

Electronics : Pentax Lithium Ion Battery for Optio SV, S5i, S4, S, WP & X

Pentax Lithium Ion Battery for Optio SV, S5i, S4, S, WP & X

Not the most exciting piece of kit but your lovely little camera won't work without one, so having a charged spare battery at hand can be a lifesaver. Battery life on the Optio S is generally very good but if you are going on a trip where opportunities to charge up are going to be limited buy a spare now. Nothing is more irritating than your camera packing up halfway round somewhere amazing. Charge time is very quick and it keeps charged up for weeks when not in use.

Physically these binoculars are quite small, about 13cms wide by 11cms front to back, but their performance is huge. They are excellent at distance and through the range to 0.5m where they are fantastic. Retaining the binocular effect through internal shifting of the optics for near objects one gets a true 3D effect. I was looking at a Minox close focusing monocular but these are so much better. All the focusing movements are internal and the build quality is superb, as you would expect from Pentax, and a 30year guarantee(!). Complete with lovely case and quick fit strap. If you buy one you will not be disappointed.

Waterproof to a greater depth (and for longer) than previous Pentax W models. More squared-off feel but easier to hold under water.

Claims to work at lower temperatures but still waiting to put that claim to the test - one of my previous Pentax W cameras stopped working on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro due to the extreme cold. (No not me, my daughter took it.)

Can take the high capacity SD cards so I got an 8GB card hoping to take movies of upto 2 hours long but found out the camdera stops recording when 2GB is reached (30mins best quality movie) - you need to press record again to start the next half hour's recording (shame - that's one star off the five).

Face recognition is included on this model and seems ... Read More:

I chose these binoculars after trawling the various websites, as I wanted a pair that had quality optics at a reasonable price for general use on holiday and when I am out walking. Unfortunately, when they arrived, I realised that the optics, whilst bright, were just too blurred around the edges and far too prone to some rather annoying internal reflections. On balance, I decided to spend a few quid more and go for a pair of Bushnell roof prism bins, which are a lot more compact and have none of the optical annoyances of the Pentax pair. The moral of the story is if you don't mind compromising on the optics, then go for the Pentax bins, but if it is likely to annoy you, then spend a little more. It would be good if there were more online reviews, I couldn't ... Read More:

Some of the problems I've had before buying this remote controller :-
1) camera moves on tripod when pressing shutter release.
2) tripod falls over (honestly, once!) when pressing shutter release.
3) camera shakes when taking long exposure time shots.
4) many pictures of my bum as I try to beat the 3-second shutter release delay while getting myself in the picture.

All cured with this tiny gadget. An excellent accessory and so simple to use - there's only one button! And with a battery life of 30,000 operations (so the bumph says) it'll probably last longer than I will!

Only problem is it's size (52 x 22 x 6 mm).
Far too easy to lose. :-)
