Christmas is coming so save your cash! Why purchase something you can get for a fiver.
Go to satnavs.consolegifts.net and sign up. Complete ONE offer- I would recommend Gala Bingo (you know, the one Sharon Osborne advertises for on tv),as this is cheap and fun (and you might win some money in the process!). If you really don't want to spend, there is a free Lovefilm trial.
All companies are well known so there is no risk involved- give it a go! I got my Ipod, satnav and wii this way, so don't miss out.
I was sceptic once but now I am SO glad I gave it a chance. BBC approved this system on their Newsnight programme a while back.
Ummmm, does anyone actually realise this isnt a genuine tom tom product ? Its generic, well looks generic to me, the charger definately isnt genuine tom tom, nothing like tom tom's car chargers. When you all got your mount/chargers did it come in a tom tom box or in a generic bag ?
My TomTom ONE v4 (Traffic Europe 22) worked straight out of the box - very intuitive, (anyway, it's easy to pop into a high street store and ask for a demo first). Once home it was simple to connect the tomtom to my PC, although it didn't immediately connect to TomTom Home - I had to go into My Computer and find the "install.exe" file on the device and start it off by clicking that.
Once connected to TomTom Home an updated European map set was immediately offered, which I downloaded. Note: this was an 850MB file and took some 3 hours on my PC with a 1Mbit broadband; BE SURE NOT TO DISCONNECT YOUR TOMTOM DURING THIS DOWNLOAD, and if you have a dodgy internet connection wait until it's stable. I had no problems at all, and then proceeded to install ... Read More:

Brought this with my new v4 and it fits the unit very well. Case is good quality and does the job. However I was disapointed to find out that it will not take the v4 removable windscreen mount. The whole idea of the new mount is that you can take it with you so why won't it fit in the case?!?!?!

Before purchasing this item I read the reviews on this website and was encouraged to read that Tomtom had apparently sorted out the problems with the earlier versions of the TMC traffic reciever. However it just goes to show that you shouldn't believe everything that you read on the internet.
Where I live I'm in range of two Classic FM transmitters (the radio station that carries the TMC signals in the UK) and have good signal strength. No matter what I tried the unit simply wouldn't pick up any traffic signal. The Tomtom recognises the receiver and tries to use it but it's constantly searching for a signal. I tried it on auto-search, tried putting in the frequencies manually, tried driving around, tried different polarisations of the aerial - all to no ... Read More:

I chose the 520 model because of its ability to send instructions via FM to the car radio. Following a software upgrade last week, this facility no longer works, even though it can still send music via FM. I've contacted TomTom who say-
"Devices with FM transmitter functionality is (sic) now unfortunately music only. With the launch of the Go x40 series and the release of Navcore 8.300 route instructions can no longer be transmitted, leaving the FM transmitter only suitable for music. The reason is a law which describes that an FM transmitter is not allowed to occupy an FM frequency if nothing is being transmitted. Thus, in between route instructions the frequency has to be released completely. This would result in the white noise you hear when not having tuned ... Read More:
