Bought this as a Christmas present for husband to replace a small analogue handeld TV that will become redundant with the digital switchover. Great quality device, picture is crystal clear and with a simple to use DVD. By plugging it in to a good indoor ariel, when using it for the first time, we were able to set up ALL the freeview channels available (we do live in SE London where signals are good and don't need to use a roof ariel for Freeview). Most channels also work inside the house with the mini ariel supplied; the odd one or two are a bit fuzzy or unavailable. Well made device, simple to use, closes up to the size a hardback book, wouldn't want anything bigger; really pleased with this purchase

I don't use that word much but this system is - awesome!
I didn't want loads of wires across the room so i went for 2:1 system. it took me 10min to set up, anyone could do it. The sound is amazing, very crisp and the bass is fantastic i wish i lived in a detached house so i could turn it up louder! It also looks brilliant. the speakers are black, the bases of the speakers are black, but the tubing in between are chrome which wasn't clear from the pics. but nevertheless it looks fantastic and topped my living room off as i didn't buy it just for the sound, my room looked a bit empty if that makes sense. now it looks great. i'm chuffed to bits and cant wait to get home tonight and listen to it ... I returned this item as the second screen stopped working after about 4 months (picture too dark). The transport was rather noisy also.

I was fairly happy with this player for 9 months, but it now plays DVDs slightly (but annoyingly) out of sync sound and movement and with a very slight judder (again very annoying). I didn't pay much for it but I expected it to last at least a year. I used it as a second machine and probably only played about 7 DVDs on it in total. I won't be buying Philips players again.

I bought the Toshiba SDP715S portable DVD player a few weeks ago. The Toshiba SDP715S glows with quality and style. The quality of the picture on the 7" screen is perfect, and the 'Virtual Surround Sound' feature works really well. The battery life was very good too, far exceeding the 3 hour battery life listed.
I also liked the carry bag and other gadgets provided in the package. One of the other reviewers complained of frustration when using the carry bag in the car - this is easily rectified by simply placing one of the spare straps through the side vents behind the DVD screen.
