What a gem of a little book. recipes for all the British classics in easy to follow format. Ingredients generally very easy to source, method suitable even if you don't have a thermometer, nice little intro to each recipe telling it's history.
A nice little book that is a great addition to any confectioners collection.

If you're hunting for a cupcake book for decoration ideas, this is the book for you. There's only a few sponge recipes at the beginning, which then includes the different frosting and icing that can be added to create the finished article. The rest of the book is about the different decoartion designs that can be incorporated to suit every occassion - not the type of book for someone like me if you wanted simple cupcake recipes.
Nice book, great inspiration. Worth noting it is US in origin, so recipes in US measures and other references to US sourced bits and bobs.

I got this book as I am hoping to make a tower of cupcakes for my wedding and save the money on getting them made professionally. So far I'm pretty pleased with this book. There is quite a variety - so far I have tried the Coconut, Banoffee and Passionfruit cupcakes. All of the cakes turned out very well. My only complaint is the toppings. The banoffee icing turned out well, but both the icings for the cocunut and passionfruit cakes were extremly runny and not usable, so I had to invent my own toppings (which were yummy if I say so myself!). Generally though this is a good book with some good ideas.

This book is excellent. The recipes really work and are nothing like the dry dreadful bread found in health shops. I very often make the muesli loaf and it works out every time - guaranteed! I highly recommend this book!

I was sadly dissapointed with this book. The designs are a bit basic. There are one or two designs that I might copy but that's all. Many of the cakes are finished in butter cream which is vey messy for children
and I think the British are more likely to prefer an icing finish. This might be suitable for someone who's never made a cake before but I found it uninspiring.

Pseudo-scientific pronouncements (sift the flour from on high to get more air into it) from the finger-wagging, proscriptive schoolmarm who thinks that you should follow her instructions slavishly or risk total disaster.
