I love this book. There is a great variety of recipes and most of the ones I have tried worked really well. She is very obsessional about detail. I find that you can cheat a bit on some of the deatils and still get really good results.
Highlight recipes have been the blueberry muffins, sticky buns, ciabata, and the half wholemeal half white flour bread. Ones that havent worked for me are the sourdough (the starter was a disaster) and the pizza dough which seemed to have too much oil.
If you love baking bread then this is a great book. The recipes are not that quick but the quality of the bread makes it worth it.

This is really quite a slim little volume, so it may not seem the best value compared to some baking books out there, but it's a brilliant little book. There are certainly enough recipes in here to make a surprising variety of brownies and blondies, my favourites are the mint ones! What's more the recipes are nice and simple and come out really well.
Also the small size is great on the kitchen counter as it takes up so little room. I maybe wouldn't bother if you already have The Divine Chocolate book (by the same author) as it contains several brownie recipes, but this book is perfect for the beginner or brownie lover.

An absolutely beautiful, easy to follow book - Floral sugar art is becoming simpler and simpler and these patterns provide a really nice back drop to small simple arrangements. The instructions are clear and lost of step by step pictures make it easy to work from. There are easier techniques and more complex designs too, but the book leaves you feeling confident to copy the authors own designs and make your own up successfully as well. Only giving it 4 out of 5 just because I would have like a few more pages in the book to drool over!

I wanted a book that gave me plenty of practical advice on 'how to' with pastry and what to do with it. The book begins with the history of pastry, leading on to how to make it with recipes for pastry that I never knew existed (I counted about 24). There are then 10 sections of recipes including small savoury pastries, sweet shortcrust & choux patries and classic decorated pies; so plenty of opportunity to try out what you've learnt. Each recipe not only has an illustration of the final dish but also some of the steps involved. I love baking and wanted something to stretch me further than Nigella and Mary Berry but didn't want to spend big bucks on a 'professional' book and fall at the first hurdle. For the money, this book will be invaluable ... Read More:

This is a proper Chefy book for experienced pastry chefs. If you fall in that category then I fully recommend this book, it's great, full to top tips and ideas on modifying and changing dishes. If your not a jobbing pastry chef at the top end of your game this is a teckie book and probably not for you. It has some fantastic photos and complex diagrams but personally I would have preferred a few more.
