An easy coffee table type of book to read over a couple of evenings.
Anyone with a bit of basic commonsense will find this book very much states the obvious throughout - if you've already got this far contemplating this type of business then this book won't tell you much (if anything) you haven't considered already.
For me, the main disappointment was the only very slight mention of the web/internet and mail order. The author talks extensively about creating 'brochures', but fails to understand and therefore mention, the power of internet selling and how this affects most businesses nowadays. I came to the fast conclusion the author was probably baking in 1950 and this critical technology has passed her by. She even says something ... Read More:

Nothing much to add to all the previous reviews, only to say I bought it for my sister but kept it for myself. A very funny, witty book, which I will continue to read and reread. Yes I did laugh out loud quite a few times. Read it for yourself, with a very large mug of tea.

I already knew this book was a bit short on photos but it's a good book just the same. I confess I have been a tad disappointed with one or two of the recipes (chocolate meringue shortbread springs to mind)but a bit of tinkering will sort out the problems. However, whether you are a fully fledged domestic goddess or a beginner this is a good one to have on your shelves.

Like the previous reviewer, I ordered both 'baking with passion' and 'exceptional cakes' at the same time. I was quite annoyed until I tried the recipes and then I was blown away. We've tried almost half of the recipes from 'exceptional cakes' and without fail the instructions are clear, concise and the cakes are AMAZING. We are working our way through them all and haven't found one we didn't like!!! They might seems complicated and time consuming when you read the instructions but follow them step by step and the results are the same as the illustrations. I would definately recommend this book....and I just gave the other one to a friend!!!

I love this book - everything I have made from it has come out as it should have! The ingredients aren't too exotic, and there's a good variety of recipes. There is a good mixture of simple and fancy things to make.
The only difficulty I had was that quite a few of the recipes contained nuts (I live with someone with an allergy) but in a lot of cases the nuts weren't a crucial part of the recipe anyway.
I love this series of books, and this is my favourite so far!

This is not an expensive book, which is it's good point so I don't feel hard done by , but I know I'm never going to use it. The ingredients are too high brow for me here in the country, I'm never going to be able to get "00 Italian flour " or the like in the shops here abouts, and I understand why he wants bottle spring water for the dough but it's not what you'd call environmentally friendly. I was hoping for something that had a broader span of bread, but this is very much the expensive Deli end.

Having bought this book as a present for my daughter , I have had the pleasure of sampling the results. I can honestly say that the soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies are the nicest I have every had. The photographs are superb and the recipes very easy to follow. Go on treat yourself!
