Pancakes, Pancakes has been my favorite "elementary" book for years! I love this book even now and I am in middle school. Eric Carle is a great children's author. I have about every one of his books he has ever written. The illustrations are beautiful to look at and the stories are so appealing to young readers. Great job, Mr. Eric Carle!!!!!!!!

You know the story... what another cookbook... Then you ask yourself, 'do I really need another cook book?, well after reading through large sections of this book, YES... I think you do. Probably just like you we have got a large number of cook books at home, so what makes this so special and stand out from the rest.
Well, I have two young children and like so many parents I have this growing concern about the amount of junk food that is available and how it can affect the behaviour of our kids. There are fatty foods, additives, colourings and god knows what else in food today. The Food Bible contains lots and lots of information about these and other food and drink types (e.g. caffeine, canned food, etc), human diseases and disorders ... Read More:

I found this book very useful, informative and helpful. I used this book for my first child and since having a second, I had completely forgotton what and what they couldn't eat at certain stages of the feeding process. All the receipes look good and cater for all tastes (as they can all be fussy!). It's a must have for someone starting to ween, through to cooking for toddlers. This book was bought for me and I'll certainly be buying it for friends that have had babies.

This is one of the few children's recipe books I use regularly. The recipes are really good and reliable and it is a beautifully presented book. In many ways it isn't really a book of 'children's' recipes as it emphasises the importance of giving children good quality food and and eating as a family. I'd recommend these recipes even if you don't have a child.
I find the comments of one reviewer regarding the photographs a little bizarre as there are none of children using sharp knives, only standard cutlery and, while there are pictures of animals, well that is where meat comes from and children do generally seem to accept this if it's treated as a matter of course - and there are also some good vegetarian recipes in the book if they ... I was bought this book by a friend 28 years ago and am just about to replace it with the new edition, as it is falling apart from use! These are not quick, throw-together recipes for busy mothers or those with little time to prepare and cook. However, if the requisite time is taken to follow all the instructions to the letter, the food produced is magnificent and truly French. I have never had a failure yet but have had many compliments on the results. A great book for the dedicated, enthusiastic cook.

'My Life in France' is a superb book that effuses with that wonderful endearing quality we have all come to know and love in Julia Child. The book focuses mainly on the early years of developing her first cookbooks and television show.
The book begins when she and her husband, Paul, make their first trip to France because of his new job assignment. You feel her giddy excitement upon landing on the shores of a place she had for so long desired to go. We hear in minute detail the look, smell and taste of her first French meal, and from there we are introduced to "La Belle France". Before I began the book, I wondered for how long I could sustain reading each night about a person's breakfast, lunch or dinner meal that had been eaten 50 years ... Read More:

The recipes in this book are excellent with lots of lovely pictures for inspiration. Some of the food is a bit fiddly (vol-au-vent cats are a bit beyond my domestic goddess capabilities!) but most is refreshingly easy.
Top method of getting vegetables down the little blighters are the "potato, carrot and courgett rostis" and "veggie burgers." My friend made the great gingerbread biscuits recipe as her little boy can't eat eggs and they were a huge hit.
Highly recommended for even the stubbornest of toddler eaters and the most uninspired of chefs amongst us.
