If you want to lose weight and enjoy your food, this book will give you a head start. The recipes are really healthy...and although living in Spain, I have difficulty in getting some of the ingredients, it is easy to substitute with other low GI foods. My husband and I decided we had to change our diet but love fruit and vegetables. I tried a few of the recipes in this book and we are hooked. It helps to plan your recipes for the week, then , when you are hungry, you don't have to make a decision which may lead to buying a quick fix food!

I've ordered quite a few veggie cookbooks lately and now that I've got this one - I won't give it up!! It's packed full of recipes and has great colour shots (helpful to see what your cooking is supposed to look like). The first 125 pages or so is all about nutrition and the different food groups. Every recipe has a breakdown - calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates.
There is such a huge variety of recipes and all of the additional information you get with this book is priceless!!

This book is unrealistic to say the least. To exist on vegetables, nuts and seeds, not much fruit, no meat, no dairy, and very little fish. You may drink water, juices made from vegetables and grasses and green drink. One also has to take lots of supplements, most of them I have never heard of. The authors also recommend a cleanse or fast before starting the diet of three to ten days.
I personally would NOT recommend this book. I think the way forward is to make a positive attempt to make the diet more alkaline, and we all know the optimum is 80/20. Can anyone recommend a book that deals with acid/alkaline balance in a more realistic fun way?

I've rarely used my slow cooker in the past, except for beef chilli for my husband. I had limited expectations (although I don't know why), but this book has turned up trumps.
There's a whole mix of recipes (1-2 hours, 6hrs, savoury, sweet) and most include everyday ingredients that probably hit your shopping list anyway.
A few recipes;
Lentil Dhal with onion, cumin and garlic
Spicy Chick Peas in a a tomato sauce with rosemary
Vegetable Casserole with thyme and cheese dumplings
Spiced Couscous with apricots, feta and pine nuts
Butter Bean and Pasta Casserole with gremolata
Sticky Toffee Pudding
Some recipes require you to fiddle a fair bit but most recipes are a total breeze, and ideal for me who cooks vegetarian ... Read More:

I have always been a bit sceptical about these detox things but after losing 5 stone and hitting a plateau I felt like I needed to do something more. My Auntie recommended this detox plan and we decided to do it at the same time so we could support each other as it was my first time. I must admit the initial outlay was expensive but then you've basically got what you need and just have to keep stocking up, although the items do tend to last a few weeks at a time. I'm now on my last week of the detox and I feel fantastic. I'm sleeping more soundly, my skin is in excellent condition and I think I've lost a few pounds although I'm not weighing myself until the last day (was 10st 7lbs on day 1). The best thing for me is I'm really enjoying all the foods! I'm now a convert ... Read More:
