I bought this book purely on it's 3 x five star reviews and I am delighted with it. The recipes are delicious, versatile and the illustrations are perfect. It is a well designed in its presentation, it gives a lot of nutritional information on all the beans, grains, pulses and legumes and the recipes also cater for everyone who wants to cook with them whether they be vegan, vegetarian or meat eaters. It also gives nutritional/calorie information for each dish. 256 pages, a big book and excellent value for money.

This book was really great! It is useful for people who want to lose weight, because you get a good motivation: your health! And you can still choose a variety of food that even if you are picky with most of it, you will find what you like... and maybe discover some new! I am really convinced that everybody should pay more attention to what the body communicates when we eat and this book helped me a lot!

This is a lovely looking book, the kind you like to leaf through with a coffee and muffin in hand. Many of the recipes are interesting and thoughtful, simply explained and offered with enough space around them so you don't feel you're reading the encyclopedia.
I was happy to see that Grace had opted for fruit sugar in the desserts and even strayed as far as Millet flour. However, this book does rely heavily on the same mixtures of rice\gram\tapioca flour that give that familiar (and not that pleasant) sandy texture and beany flavour. The only gluten free bread recipe offered is a soda bread that I didn't even bother making as I know from experience that it would make a dry, heavy loaf.
There is a wealth of information in this chunky little book. I only gaive it three stars because I feel there are rather too many ready-made, branded foods listed because the label on such items would give all the information, anyway, so no need to look them up in a reference book.
Everything I eat I have created myself so I need calorie values of ingredients, not finished items. So I found I had to wade through ready-made, canned, etc before I find what I am looking for.
But for someone who has little idea of caorie values or needs a fuller list this would be a good little reference book to keep in the kitchen.

I bought this book to be able to cope with stress situations that generated lot of somatic problems including the sudden rise of blood pressure. I found the help quite good, easy to follow, and directly to the point. In Chapter 1 you will find immediately the many causes of stress and a direct help on how to use the Workbook: depending on your symptoms a Table will show you which Chapters you should read. Each Chapter deals with one particular method, so that you know which methods are the most specific for your case. Each Chapter has a selected bibliography, so that if one Method is good for you, you can buy another book to go deeper in that method.
The only critic I have to point out is the following. There are 2 chapters written by external contributors ... Read More:

A clear and concise book that i've refered to time and time again.
A must have for anyone interested in nutrition and the health benefits of foods.

i bought this as an accompaniment to the GI book. I'm sorry but i just don't buy it hook, line and sinker. I have trouble believing that redwine doesn't affect your blood sugar less than other alcohol or why mayonaisse-based dressing is ok? There is no data given to back it up. I may go as far as to say the pocket guide is a bit subjective on the authors favorite foods and foods he doesn't care for.
