I bought Rick Gallop's GI Diet Green-Light Cookbook because I am following a low GI/low carb diet. I was looking for more options so that I had flexibility with menu planning. The recipes look lovely and I have tried the Strawberry Tea Bread which is really good.
The reason I am giving this cookbook 3 stars is because it is lacking 2 things which I think are really important: serving sizes and caloric breakdown. For instance on the Strawberry Tea Bread, it says that it makes 2 loaves but it would be nice to know what size slice is a serving size. If you are keeping track of your caloric intake, you won't have any guidance with this cookbook unfortunately.
I had considered for some time following a macrobiotic diet, I bought this book after reading other very very good reveiews, I can say I have definitely made the right decision buying this book, it is beautifully illustrated, easy to understand for a beginner and has recipies which I look forward to trying, the book also had loads of advice about different types of vegetables etc and what the health benefits are.
I have always eaten healthily but now I feel armed to improve on the foundation that I had alredy implemented in my diet.

This is a diet book whose plan is to get you to lose weight by limiting your carbohydrates- essentially another low-carbohydrate diet. It has 3 phases where your carbohydrates are severely restricted at first, and then re-introduced.
I have personally read three controlled trials comparing low carb diets to your regular calorie restricted diets that were published in scientific journals. The results? Low carb diets produce more weight loss during the first 6 months, but at one year follow-up, both groups had lost THE SAME amount of weight.
Therefore, it really doesn't matter which diet plan you choose, the South Beach diet or your standard low calorie diet, because if you can stay on either of them for a year, you'll ... Read More:

this is a book about running - but running in life's great race as well as the roads, moors and tracks which are the traditional domains of the runner.
Stu believes that we are all born to run, and he's written a book that is applicable to everyone - whether exercising, working, socialising the point is the same: do it so you enjoy it, don't treat it as some sort of punishment.
It also contains so much detail - what to eat (and how different people need different foods), how you feel, kinesiology, health vs fitness, what to wear; Stu really is the expert

This recipe book has a great range of menus from quick and easy snacks to preparing a full meal. Only criticism I would say is that alot of the recipes don't have pictures, yet there is always space to put a small one in - it's difficult to imagine what these recipes will or should look like when done correctly!

All I can say is....this book is brilliant. It's one of the best health books I've read. It's clear and easy to read with very useful information. I definitely recommend it.

Aha, I thought - a recipe book written by a diabetic nutritionist! What more could I want, it'll give me all the information I need! I'll tell you what more I want - recipes which give the carbohydrate value of prepared food. As a Type 1 diabetic, my entire food intake relies on accurate counting of carbohydrate. That's why I bought this book, and it gives no help whatsoever with carbohydrate values. I can use any recipe book I choose and work out the carbohydrate content for myself; it's tedious and turns cooking into an exercise in arithmetic. Similar recipes could be found in any book advocating healthy eating, ie low fat, less sugar and salt, more fresh fruit and vegetables, and wholemeal bread and pasta. I also looked at Antony Worral Thompson's 'Healthy ... Read More:

This little book is packed full of delicious, authentic tasting recipes which are easy to follow and reproduce. My husband, who NEVER cooks, loves making the lemon & garlic chicken for the BBQ and my favourite are the meatballs with lemon, yoghurt sauce.
Mouthwatering soups, salads, dips, meat or veggie dishes, finished off with yum desserts all of which are light, healthy and full of fresh ingredients.
Although these books are published in Australia, the glossary in the back provides a clear explanation in the different terms (i.e Zucchini = Courgette).
I learnt to cook with the Australian Womens Weekly and thoroughly recommend any of their books.

I would not recommend this as a book to learn how to do Pilates (even with the caveat that no one can truly learn a body movement discipline from a book).
This is a book dedicated more to its photographs than to information on each exercise. It resembles a nice coffee table book (but know that the paper stock is matte, not glossy) more than it resembles a workout book. What instruction there is, is terribly concise.
In all, if you are enamoured of Ms Bussell, then this book is for you. It makes a companion peice to the DVD. But if you are more enamoured of Pilates than the star, this book will most likely disappoint you.
