Did I really need another book on nutrition? Probably not. But now I have this one I probably won't look at the others again. Not that "Food For Fitness" contains any ground-breaking information, but it's the best common-sense summary I've come across of the latest findings on healthy eating for active people. If you're browsing for just one book on the subject, look no further. What's more, "Food For Fitness" is so clearly written and beautifully presented that it's a pleasure just to turn the pages. Anita Bean knows her stuff, and she shares it with style and grace. The second half of the book consists of recipes using readily available ingredients and listing all the relevant nutritional information. Whether you want to gain or lose weight, ... Read More:

After suffering with a problem back for very many years now, and having had a torrid last 12 months through two of my lumbar discs being prolapsed, had an MRI scan and spinal injections, I thought I knew it all.
I've read many books and done extensive research on the internet.
I bought this book based on its high reviews and because of its strengthening exercises, but being a cynic didn't expect to learn much more.
How wrong could I be.
From front to back it's totally absorbing and I learnt so much more about the functioning of a healthy back, what can go wrong and how to correct it when it does.
The exercises are disarmingly simple but are feeling very effective.
I read the 'Backsmart Fitness Plan' straight ... Read More:

The mrs bought this book, but as I do most of the cooking I had to read it.
I'm all for healthy eating but the recipes in this book are completely devoid of all flavour.
I was particularly unimpressed with the bean chili recipe which doesn't contain any chili.
Healthy eating isn't rocket science, you don't need this book

This book is excellent for every person who wants to start or get better in yoga. All of the postures are with pictures easy to understand and motivating to do. I use this book to complete my Iyengar classes. Now i can do the postures every day or choose a certain program for example the neck (a lot of computerwork) It helps me to relax after a hard day of working and fills me with energy or helps me relax when wanting to go to sleep. *****

I bought this as a result of a lactose intolerance, and not being able to afford meat! It has further developed my love of vegetables, providing me with versatile ways of preparing them, introducing me to new taste-combinations and leading to good, hearty 'real food' that doesn't require meat to complete the meal =).
Highly recommended, but no photos, which is regrettable.

My partner has recently been diagnosed with very high cholesterol. I was looking for something with a positive note, some practical health advice info and some cheery recipes.
This is a lovely very well priced book and a good combination of viewpoints.
Scrummy recipes for everyone regardless of cholesterol reading.

Awful awful book. I don't need a "recipe book" that tells me how to create different varieties of veggie burger from pre-bought patties!!
But I don't know what I expected really after reading the first one!
I would recommend avoiding this book like the plague and going for something like Vegan with a Vengeance, La Dolce Vegan or Eat Drink & Be Vegan instead, for recipes that are actually worthwhile.

I was really disappointed by this book, I think it has a huge flaw in it, being that it has no dessert chapter. I'm a complete sugar junkie and the biggest part of being on a diet for me is finding ways to keepy my sweet tooth satisfied without hindering my diet progress.
Also, I have quite a fussy partner and a 3 year old daughter and I find that a lot of these recipes would not be suitable for them and being a busy mum I don't have time to cook seperate meals. I also found that the list of 'free' foods were pretty common sense, nothing processed, fruit and veg, meat and fish etc.
To be perfectly honest I found the slimming world webstite more helpful and considering the price of the book I would check it out at a library or bookstore before ... Read More:

At first, the new method may seem a bit complicated but it's definitely not! On the contrary, it helped me understand how to combine foods and then eat more and a greater variety of foods! Antony Worrall Thompson's recipes are delicious, easy to prepare and adapted to the whole family.
I have already lost 5 kilos in a month and I have never feel deprived!!! That is just a miracle!
