A great book for seafood novices. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fish but is too scared to try cooking it at home. Rick's easy to follow recipes are simple, delicious, and quick to do. What's more, mine even came out looking like the photo!! What more can you ask for?

This is an amazing book to read. I read it while making the transition from extract to all-grain brewing. Actually that's not quite true, I bought this book and it inspired me to switch to all-grain brewing, which I have definitely not regretted.
What this book has is lots of all-grain recipes, which you can brew as they stand, or use as starting points for your own ideas. Mosher gives lots of hints about where you could take different recipes, and the book is packed with tips about how to combine ingredients to make great tasting beer. It's not exactly a book about how to design your own recipes, but it will get you thinking in that direction, and if designing your own recipes from scratch is your aim, this book is be a great place ... This book was recommended to me while I was in a cocktail bar in London - it is easily the best cocktail book I have read! Not only does it contain hundreds of recipes and serving instructions, it explores the history of ingredients like the differnce between Bourbon, Rye, Irish and Tennessee whiskey; recommending the best ones to use for which cocktail.
Written by the man who made the 'Cosmopolitan' famous, I found this a great read - and so did all my family at Christmas!

Waste of money. Self-indulgent, parochial, political. Rather buy something on whisky by Jim Murray or the late Michael Jackson. Any book on Scotland by anybody on earth, even if he is from Tierra del Fuego, would be better. And as for the author's friends, his youth, cars and his naive and fashionable politics- who cares and why does he think anybody else would?

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. This bloke knows his beer and not just American beer, but Euopean varieties too including English beers. It is all in here and this book warrants detailed study.
I paid £500 for a University brewing course - which was great - but everything they taught me is already in this book.
This really is a fantastic piece of work!
In two years I have gone from making 5 gallons of rubbish to running a small scale 144 gallon commercial brewery of my own.

I bought this book for my husband shortly before we started planning a series of wine-themed holidays and it's been a great planning tool. It has a good mix of vineyards, bars, musuems, shops, etc and includes some interesting "wine facts" along the way. Price guides are in dollars, but it's not a great hindrance to the UK reader. It also includes some of the less obvious wine regions (the UK, for example) and covers the more obvious ones in sufficient details.
