This book is wonderful, imaginative, easy to read and understand. I also found it entertaining, for a 'non cook' that is praise indeed! Although I am no great cook, I do keep chickens for eggs, the wife wont let me eat them, (yet!)I do grow lots of stuff, and much of this is credited to the Author. A man who cherishes his food and where it comes from, and how. This book comes close to being my Bible

Good recipes. Great inspiration and very nice descriptions of the ingredients. I cannot add anything that was not already said in the previous reviews on this, but be careful. the recipes are most of the time wrong in timings. So far I found that cooking times should be twice as much as indicated in the book. For example, I just completed the orange and lemon tart and the cooking time is (obviously) at least 60 minutes and not 35 as written. Same errors on timing are everywhere on the book. So, if you are a beginner ... be prepared for a lot fo frustation because of this!

If I could have only one fish cookery book, it would be this one. There are some superb recipes that really work. I feel immensely grateful to Rick Stein for inspiring me to cook many more exciting and unusual fish dishes.

I use this book all the time and several recipes have become staple meals in our house, try the cauliflower cheese soup - so easy but utterly delicious; or the baked cod on spring onion mash - real gastropub stuff but again so easy. And it's stuffed with little tips which influence your own cooking - I always do my roast potatoes a la Nick now! This book has really made me fall in love with cooking.

I actually bought this book for my Dad who loves Johnny Scott's fantastic witty writing style. However it never even got to the wrapping stage. I love the fact that he is keeping a tradition alive. My boyfriend and I have cooked for all my friends and he is very proud to show off his new found skills. The cooking section is very good but very same same as other books. What makes the book more special and worth buying is the personable and charming of Johnny Scott. Thankyou very much

This book was a present: purchased because I like autobiographies and cooking programmes. Whilst this book is not the greatest literacy piece ever written, it is an easy book to read which maintains the same energy & pace exhibited by Mr Ramsay himself. The story outlines his life and experience, peppered with his views on the people around him and the restaurant industry. This book won't earn Ramsay a literary award to run alongside his Michelin stars (which won't bother him) but it is worth the read and is readable - unlike some many other celebrity autobiographies.

This is a brilliant book, I have owned it for 2 years now & I love it. The pictures are beautiful, The recipes detailed 7 help you produce dishes that amaze & astound the senses.
Be aware however, this book contains some recipes that are very expensive to reproduce, i.e. lobster, scallops, fillet of beef.
But never mind that just buty the book, ebvn if you never cook a recipe the pictur of the completed dishes in this book will make you salivate..... yum!
