This has to be one of my favorite cookbooks.For tarts it's streets ahead of anything else I've seen in print. Christmas, birthdays, parties and just 'something nice for lunch' days, this book has something for them all. My only comment would be take a close look at the instructions for shallow/deep flan tin (I've occasionally been caught out with too little filling) Please don't let it be out of print!

My partner became vegan and I was worried I would not be able to make cakes etc. No worries with this book. The double choc pecan brownies (and variations) are out of this world - you would not know they are dairy free and this is now a regular birthday treat. The muffins are light and moist - better than the shop versions. Using fruit and veg to make lovely moist bakes.
When we could not find organic chocolate soya dessert commercially, we used the recipe for the cream to use in sandwich cakes and now my partner prefers that to the commercial soya dessert that is back in the shops. So easy to make, he does it himself.
NB the recipe for cornbread may have a little too much baking soda - we found it inedible, so made a wee adjustment. ... Read More:

This is the first book of Tamasin's that I bought, and made me a fan for ever. You simply could not read this without wanting to rush into the kitchen and make a tart, or several tarts. My copy falls open at the Tomato, Camembert & Herb tart which is wonderful for a lunch or as part of a buffet - it always disappears in record time. And the Lemon & the Butterscotch tarts - visitors expect to see one if not both of these sitting in the kitchen when they arrive, whatever else I might have made. The recipes are simple to follow, and they always work, this book is great for all levels of cooking skills. Just follow the instructions and you will be delighted.
