this is a very helpful book for especially beginners, with big colourfull pictures of the most common fungi-edible and poisonous aroud us. very easy to use, clear, lots of hints and also recipes. great.

If you're bored of mashed potato or boiled carrots, this book will provide you with plenty of ideas on how to prepare vegetables in a new, original way. I have tried many lovely dishes from this book; my favourites are the carrots boiled in cream and basil (absolutely delicious), the layered potato and tomato pie, celery risotto, chard and mushroom fettucine (I've never liked chard very much and I loved this dish!), the orange and fennel salad, lentil soup with butternut squash and fennel, the pear, parmesan and celery salad, and many more. All ingredients are easy to find in your local shop and rely on good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar to bring out the tatste of the vegetables rather than soaking them in tons of mayonnaise or salad ... this vegetarian book is the only one you will ever need, there are not many pictures but they are not needed. the book is set out so well that it is so easy to use. i loved it so much for the first month of owning it i didn't eat any meat (and for me that is an amazing achievment) and it became my bed time reading. sad but true.

When I get a new cookbook I tend to go through and put makeshift bookmarks at all the recipes I want to try...this book must hold the record for the most bookmarks!

Like a lot of people, I am gradually coming to the realization that what I put into my body affects the way my mind and body are able to function. I found the dietry information at the beginning of this book quite useful but as a person who does not eat animal-derived foods and therefore has always paid attention to this sort of information there are only so many times I can be told the same 100 fascinating facts about nutrition without my eyes rolling into the back of my head from boredom. Did you know that vitimin C is essential for human health and can be found in citrus fruits? No? Congratulations, you must be the last person on Earth not to know it. You can come out of the cupboard now and start living with the rest of us again.
