Wow! What can I say. This book has to have some of the most inspirational vegetarian recipes I have ever seen. I've just had great reactions at a dinner party to the Oyster Mushrooms in Ginger Butter that I cooked from a recipe in this book, and I have to agree with them. The recipes are not necessarily the quickest to prepare, but if they all taste as good as the mushrooms, then the extra time taken to put them together will be worth it. Since buying this book, my plans for this year now include a trip to Cork to sample the delights of this restaurant.

This has to be one of the best vegetarian books I've read but also, being a novice in the kitchen, it is great because the recipes are straightforward and understandable. Some of them use unusual ingredients that can be difficult to find but adaptation is part of the fun of cooking. This was recommended to me by a chef friend and he swears by it for the restaurant as well as at home. A must-buy!

Have to be honest, it's rare I'll even bother to write a book review but feel compelled to here. After being a veggie for 20 years, I'm toying with the idea of becoming a vegan. I'm not one for being preached at and most 'activists' irritate me beyond description. Also, I'm not one for overblown American in your face type writing, so I was a little apprehensive about buying this. I needn't have been. It's superb. Honest, humorous, non preachy and debunks many myths including several perpetuated by vegans themselves. The authors include links for further info and resources which adds to the value too. If you're considering becoming a vegan or even just flirting with the idea, buy this book.

Colourful and descriptive, this book takes you through every season of your vegetable garden- a must for those of us who think the season only runs from spring to autumn. It shows you have to utilise all 12 months. Unlike other gardening books, this also gives you interesting and different recipes to take your home grown produce from earth to the table. - A great buy!

Beware. Not everyone on a low carb diet will find these recipes particularly low carb. There are many that include onions and flour (both have a very high GI). But in it's favour there are no Americanisms in sight, and at least the dishes taste wonderful!

I can't say enough good things about this book. I was surprised by the comment about pasta dishes as only 1 out of the 10 chapters in this relates to pasta. For the tofu fans I would highly recommend the mushroom and tofu stroganoff which has a lovely strong rich flavor. There is a great variety in this book and I have yet to become bored of it, in fact when I recently moved house I was in a blind panic when I thought I'd lost it! There are a couple of recipes that will take you longer when you make them this first couple of times, but in general they live up to the promise of being easy to throw together in 30 mins. I often delve into this during the week after being at work all day and this is the only one of my recipe books I would dare to do this ... Read More:

I bought this book for my Mom who had just been on a one day course in Bristol on how to live with cancer and how food can help. Both my Mom and Dad found the course very useful, so I thought I'd buy them a book that would hopefully back up what they had learnt.
This book is fantastic - so my Mom says, it backs everything up that she learnt on her course, and is written in a precise and clear way, that she can understand. The recipes are most useful. One of the authors was actually the tutor on the course, and the other was the oncologist.
This book is a must if you are living with cancer and have just found out (like my Mom did) that she is not to have any dairy products in her diet.
I love this book - every recipe I have made has worked. Having repeatedly borrowed it from the library I tried to buy a copy without success - until now, with this lovely new paperback edition. She seems to have come up with many ideas that I have not seen elsewhere - very refreshing. Also, many recipes are for two people which avoids having to scale everything down - although she must have a bigger appetite than I have! There are no pictures of the food; instead there are vibrant fruit and vegetable ink paintings. I wouldn't have minded fewer of these but it's a small quible and better than nothing at all. It is one of the few books that I actually cook from out of my embarassingly large collection of vegetarian cookery books.

I love this book. As the only vegan in my household, its brilliant for me to cook meals on my own. Its helped me to discover new foods to eat, different combinations of food, and I feel healthier for it.
I don't care that there are no pictures in the book, why does there need to be? You can imagine with your mind if you know what all the ingredients look like.
The book is divided into winter and summer recipes, which is definitely a winner, as you can then see exactly which are the warming foods and which are the cooling foods. Yum.
The realy great thing is if you have someone to stay who is also vegan, you can just double the recipes up, which is so much easier than trying to reduce sizes from a family book for one person. ... Read More:
