This product was unable to fully cook the ingredients of a meal, even after many hours on the high setting. Perhaps it was just this particular unit that was defective, but I will search around for a different model. The Amazon.com returns policy, however, is user friendly and they have provided a full refund.

I've been using slow cookers for about 25 years. I got the 48715 last Christmas (2007) and it's been serving this family of four at least once a week since. Like any other kitchen appliance, some common sense in its use will avoid any of the negatives I've read here.
A slow cooker is not a 'set-it-and-forget-it' device, and they're not marketed as such. Admittedly the 48715 runs hotter than one might expect, but that's true of most modern slow cookers. In fact the one niggle I have with it is the number of times I've inadvertently touched the hot metal base, but that's me being clumsy. I bought this machine for looks and the drop down paddle ( had a breadmaster that made wonderful bread but was getting a new kitchen and so I wanted all my gadgets in stainless steel ( put my breadmaster in the loft n kissed it apologetically). The MR breadmaker boasted a drop down paddle( which never really worked ) 16mths later ( still under guarantee) it stopped kneading and all the recipes I,ve used before were disasters tried once more and it refused to work at all, discovered that tho still under guarantee it would cost me a £15.00 to send back to Morphy Richards and then the guarantee would be from first purchase. So I consigned the rubbish guarantee and their rubbish bread maker to the local tip and got my breadmaster back down from the loft and cleaned ... Read More:

I am a culinary dunce but I do like good bread and bought this product because I was fed up with the indifferent bread to be had in the shops. I will admit that I have only used it for making wholewheat and granary type breads and, because I live alone, only for making smaller loaves. However, if I follow the instructions carefully and press the right buttons, I get a fine tasty loaf every time. The results are excellent and the quality totally consistent. What more could I ask? Some reviewers have remarked on difficulty removing the paddle. I have found that it is easily removed with a stiff plastic spatula. So it leaves small hole? Does this make it taste the worse?

It says that I am the first person to review this product, so here goes. I bought this slow cooker because this is the black version of model 48710 3.5L in stainless steel, which has received rave 5 star reviews.
I can compare both models with each other, as I have owned and cooked in both. I first bought the 48710 in stainless steel for my elderly mother, and it certainly lived up to expectations. When it came to replacing mine, I found this black version, which I must say looks very contemporary, and would suit a lot of people's kitchens. Personally, I much prefer the colour, and the fact that it doesn't show any fingerprints, which the model in stainless steel does. We were very disappointed with this purchase. Not a single loaf was acceptable and all had sunken middles. The help desk suggested making alterations to the recipes - strange as you would expect these to be optimal to start with. When these didn't work we asked for our money back and they refused. We then bought the more expensive panasonic with seed dispenser and it is awesome for pizzas, breads, panetones etc...we haven't had a single loaf/pizza which wasn't perfect and delicious.

I was looking for a bigger slow cooker than the 2 litre one I already had. (My USA slow cooker book recommended a larger one so that you could cook for the freezer.) Well this one seemed twice the size - but it's still not what I'd call big. What I'd recommend you do is to fill a suacepan with water and measure what 3.5 litres actually looks like and whether you need an even bigger one. In this cooker 3.5 litres is nearly to the top of the bowl and some recipes can be a bit bulky until they have cooked a while. This one might be fine for a family of four or as one of a pair (you'll soon realise that two slow cookers is what you'll need for a dinner and a pudding or extra side dishes).

The Intellisteam Steamer is incredibly easy to use and the food, especially vegetables, really does have a stronger flavour although, like a microwave, it obviously doesn't brown stuff like fish in the way you might like. I've been using a few weeks almost every day and haven't been tempted to return to pots and pans once.
The controls are more or less idiot proof, with a range of pre-set cooking times designed to enable cook to put a whole meal on in a couple of minutes without having to think. That's great for someone like me, whose cooking expertise barely extends beyond heating something that comes in a packet. Firstly, I don't understand why there are so many positive reviews. I bought this kettle, based on these comments, and it arrived today. (After 2 weeks), and i must say, I am really dissapointed.
Its cheap, and nasty. The lid does not close properly, and is very loose. The illuminated section can only be seen if you switch all the lights off and have the kitchen in complete darkness. The base is very flimsy thin plastic. There is the option to keep the cord at a short length, by wrapping it under the base, BUT the cord is so stiff, the base tilts the kettle unless its full of water! The first machine we received had a fault and sprayed boiling water out when the coffee was being made. Amazon replaced it for us quickly, but over the course of the next 3 weeks another fault developed - despite the "coffee ready" light coming on, it wasnt!! Initially this machine made a very fast cuppa which was perfect for my time challenged husband. However the new fault turned a couple of minutes into about 15 minutes. Its a real shame because when it worked properly it made beautiful coffee very quickly. I would have recommended this wholeheartedly had we not had 2 faults with 2 machines.
